Agreed. I was pretty pumped, but I noticed that there wasn’t much thunder as the line approached. That dampened my enthusiasm a little.

I’ll take the rain though…and it’s looking like we might stay in it for a bit as that train develops to the west.

Some middling lightning/thunder, steady rain for about 10-15 min now, none of which I feel deserves a ST warning....but the most impressive thing was the boiling pot of mammatus clouds just prior to the "main" weather kicking in on this line...

Lotta storm reports from NE MD. Here, this was a quick-hitter although it's back-loaded with some decent T&L which is always nice. I thought the outflow boundary from the N MD storms perpendicular to the storm might goose it a little locally, but ...

0.65” in 20 minutes and 35 mph winds.  Got a video from Bowie and those winds were intense, looked like 65 mph

Damn good storm. Gust Front was legit. Had to be 40+ as trees bent and a neighbor across the street had a tree snap off and fall into their yard. I think it missed the house

      Yes!    This has some potential to transition to a heavy rain event, mainly along and south of I-66.

Nice!  Was a pretty good storm. I saw some weak rotation in that soup of fun clouds as it passed here. Horizontal in nature but was rolling. 
 

Needed this last night when we did a B meet at the pool in your hood

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 700 PM EDT
FOR SOUTHEASTERN ANNE ARUNDEL...NORTHERN ST. MARYS...NORTHWESTERN
CALVERT...SOUTHEASTERN PRINCE GEORGES AND NORTHEASTERN CHARLES
COUNTIES...

At 632 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Londontowne to near Waldorf, moving east at 45 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to
         fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage
         homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed
         trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured
         light objects may become projectiles.

Locations impacted include...
Waldorf, Bowie, Clinton, Mayo, Shady Side, Chesapeake Beach, Deale,
Prince Frederick, Upper Marlboro, South River, Breezy Point, Rhode
River, Parole, Kettering, Rosaryville, Marlton, Dunkirk, Saint
Charles, Londontowne and Accokeek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. These storms are producing
widespread wind damage across Anne Arundel and Calvert counties in
Maryland. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away
from windows.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature`s leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.

PWS lightning count total is around 771 now. Really impressive. We lost power for a few mins but it came back quickly. Was watching that nasty wind core go through PG etc on my tablet. PEPCO outages up to 40K it looks like.

Concerning...Heavy rainfall...Flash flooding possible

SUMMARY...Very intense short-term rain rates aligning for
favorable training/repeating resulting in possible localized flash
flooding through late evening.

DISCUSSION...Severe weather scenrio continues to unfold across the
Mid-Atlantic with very strong thunderstorms and high wind gusts. 
This is also resulting in intense moisture convergence with these
cells within a very moist and unstable environment.  The mass
loading into the cells have resulted in numerous reports of 1"/30
minutes with each individual cell.   In the short-term, the
overall speed has limited flooding concerns in all but the most
prone areas, ie urban settings.

However, larger scale synoptic setup has favored the cell moving
across DC toward Annapolis MD in a very favorable placement to the
right entrance region of the jet, but the speed max is exiting
toward the northeast.   Upstream across WV a secondary subtle
speed max is starting to round the base of the upper trof.  This
has reduced the forward speed of the cold front crossing the
central Applachians resulting in a weak kink or wave around W MD. 
As such, the outflow boundary from the initial storm as oriented
favorably west to east for increased west-southwesterly flow ahead
of the approaching speed max/synopic ascent.  As a result oblique
but sufficient isentropic ascent for additional similar but
slightly less intense thunderstorms have formed generally parallel
to the mean flow suggesting increased training potential across
Northern VA into southern central MD.  Given potential of
backbuilding/training as supported by recent runs of the HRRR, an
axis 2-4" totals are possible likely from Rockingham, VA toward
Prince William and across into Charles county this evening.  This
crosses a few areas of lowered FFG due to recent heavy rainfall
increasing the potential for flash flooding to occur.

I know, right? That stuff was really rotating when it first started to move in...mesmerizing.

And nice indeed on the 'hood meet! My wife and I were wondering if last night was the HF/VH B meet. Pretty sure you probably know our awesome next-door neighbors (the Garcias) who live here in HF, but are still members at VH. They are SUCH a cool fam...

Middletown, DE and Cheasapeake City City was hit very hard.  Numerous trees down, Pine trees and Oaks especially. Local flooding, I estimated winds from the damage to have been near 70 mph,  maybe more.  I missed the storm , as I was driving back from Chestertown, MD.  Very impressive swath of damage for sure.

I lasted on my porch in Sterling for about 5 minutes then took shelter.  It was quick but intense.  Branch ended up through our garage roof.
