Powerball
After heat indices topping out at 110*F yesterday and an Excessive Heat Warning, the cool down has arrived. Dallas & Tarrant Counties have been downgraded to Heat Advisories with heat indices *ONLY* up to 105*F and highs *ONLY* in the low 100s. This morning's low was 81*F. Powerball
BTW, you know this heat means business when there isn't much of a temperature drop after a heavy rain shower. Love Field was one of the lucky spots to get a downpour late yesterday afternoon and their temp was still at 100*F afterwards.

Ed, snow and hurricane fan
104*F at the big airport in Houston. Been bouncing between 103 and 104 the last 4 hours, distant thunderstorms visible to the NE, not headed this way. I don't know if a temp higher than 104*F was reached today between hours, Tied a 1980 record yesterday, broke a 1998 record by at least 3 degrees today. Will challenge another 1980 record tomorrow. A couple of 12Z ECENS outliers get a TS to Houston next weekend, but there are clustered Central or Eastern Gulf. Op TS is MS/AL state line (slow mover) next weekend. EDIT TO ADD- 105^F daily high. cstrunk
My weather station hit 104F on Saturday before a brief shower dropped a much-needed 0.18". The temperature quickly rose back to 103F AFTER that. Talk about a sauna! The Longview airport hit 107F - they missed out on any rain.

cstrunk
Isn't there an update coming to the GFS? Maybe that'll help fix some of those warm bias issues. Otherwise at least a few folks are getting isolated storms/showers today and there are chances over the next couple of days.

Powerball
As of today, DFW has reached its average number of 100°F+ days in a year (20). Current projections are we should end up solidly above that number.
cstrunk
105F yesterday in Longview and we missed the evening storms by 10-15 miles. BUT storms have redeveloped early this morning and we're now getting some pretty good rainfall out of it! Already at 0.88" and counting. Other areas are easily picking up 1"-2"+. *Ended up with 1.19"!
radarman
Pretty good storm complex rolled through from NE to SW. Missed most of Tarrant Co however.
Ed, snow and hurricane fan
High only 98*F in Houston, storms are sticking to the coast, something will have to develop soon if Houston metro is to get rain, but the SW coastal counties are in a more severe drought state than the metro. Powerball
In theory, the low would be 86*F at DFW (another record maximum), but of course a couple of rogue rain shower has billowedvup across thr Metroplex. So that might take a hit.
