In theory, the low would be 86*F at DFW (another record maximum), but of course a couple of rogue rain shower has billowedvup across thr Metroplex. So that might take a hit.

Looks like the low is still 86, so far.  if it holds, it will tie DFW's highest daily min in recorded history, going back to 1898.

IAH got down to 80*F again.  Usually, while our highs don't match DFW, our lows do.  Y'all are closer to the center of the ridge.  We made 100*F again yesterday, but dewpoints mixed down into the 60s at peak heating, similar today, no heat advisory (IAH standard, 108*F temp/dewpoint heat index)

No reason why the 86*F shouldn't hold at this point.

One of those rogue rain showers did graze the eastern edge of DFW's airfield this morning, but fortunately it wasn't enough to knock down the temp.

DFW peaked at 109.  Still 96 at 11 pm local time.

A CU field had developed by late afternoon, which probably prevented that extra 1 degree bump.

Today's record might be more attainable  which is 108*F in 2018.

As an aside, as hot as this Summer's been, we have yet to see a 110*F+ high and have only tied one record high in Met Summer (103*F on 6/11). Part of it is that those records from 1980 are just insanely high, but still...

The real story has been the string of record maximum lows.

Gonna be a lot of sites in Northwest Texas with highs over 115F today. The swath from San Angelo north to Wichita Falls is the epicenter.

TX/OK high temps today:

Wichita Falls 115

Lawton 114

Denton 111

Abilene 110

OKC 110 (only their 12th 110+ day on record; first since 2012)

DFW 109

San Angelo 108

The clouds kept it from getting to 100F here yesterday. The high was only 97F. The rain missed us, but the huge complex in SW AR pushed out some outflow last night that felt pretty good.

Another chance of rain today so I've got my fingers crossed.

NWS HGX has a 30% chance of much needed rain from a weak disturbance under the ridge coming from Louisiana.

100*F in Houston moved us to #5 on list of 100*F days in a Summer, we just got back from 2 days in San Antonio, they are already #3 on their list of 100* days.  IAH forecast under 100 today.
