CoastalWx
That's a great recap. Jan 2011 was epic weenie month in CT, esp western, SW CT. I have no issues with that month again though up this way. That 6 week stretch was great NW of PYM, but an under the radar epic screw job from Diane's old hood through the Cape. I guess they made up for it later on in the decade.

Only storm where I melted a few days prior, was in 2015 and if mets don't agree they're lying..lol. I thought for sure the system two days before Juno would kick it OTS. Never thought we had room for that to come closer. Boy was I wrong on that, but I think most mets would agree 9/10 times that is a kicker.

Then the NAM crushed, and by afternoon almost all guidance was on board. That was a fun couple days.

The 4 Seasons
I can explain why i missed every single monster storm since 2000 but i doubt anyone really cares. Fate is just against me to experience a monster storm i.e. 20+ or 24+ or 30+ or even 40" The biggest storms ive ever experienced were just over 11" for example Feb 01, Mar 01, Feb 06, Feb 15, Jan 16, Feb 16, Feb 17, Jan 18, Mar 18, Mar 19...all those storms were 11-15" Feb 01 is my #1 all time Mar 01 is #2

EastonSN+
Here is a good question. Which decade was better 2000 to 2009 or 2010 to 2019. Both amazing decades. I experienced only 3 below average snowfall winters in 2000 to 2009 and 2 below average in 2010 to 2019. I would go with 2010 to 2019. The 2 best 5 year periods I'm are 2010 to 2014 and 2000 to 2004. Of the 2 I would pick 2010 to 2014 but almost a coin toss.
The 4 Seasons
The elevation snow storm of 2006. The map doesn't really do the elevation part justice but it was a very anamolous event for CT. Snow totals varied drastically over just a couple hundred feet up or down. I remember getting virtually white rain all day that only accumulated to about 1" of pure glop probably close to a 1:1 ratio snow. Roads were just wet, driveways wet, grass was slightly covered, overall pretty lame. I drove up just a few miles north to Wallingford/Meriden around 300ft elevation and they had 7" with plows going by, snow blowers going, it was like winter wonderland. Some CT towns in New Haven and Fairfield county varied as much as 10" in a single town alone from up high around 500-600ft to near sea level snow amounts ranged from 1-10". 1

Storms in the 24-40" range in 2011 and 2013 of which the 2000s had none. As a kid i was definitely more impacted by the 2000s though. I experienced my first thundersnow which was epic CG. And experienced my first 12"+ snow that i can vividly remember as well as the 54 hour epic Mar 4-6th event.
The 4 Seasons
PNS statements, you can really see the elevation part of it. Wolcott/Waterbury are very hilly towns probably a lot of reports ranging a great deal.

Using calendar years (mostly), 2000-09 averaged 92.4" while 2010-19 had 91.6" with perhaps a bit to be added in the next 8 days, though not the 8" it would take to match 00-09. --00-09 and 10-19 each had 4 years with 100"+, though curiously the 10 seasons 99-00 thru 08-09 had only 3 while 09-10 thru 18-19 did it 6 times. Advantage 10-19. --My top 3 calendar years are 2007, 2008, and 2001 in that order. (Seasons: It's 07-08, 00-01 and 16-17 in that order.) Advantage 00-09. --My 2 largest snowfalls came 12/6-7/03 and 2/22-23/09. Of the top 10, 6 came 00-09, top 20 had 12 in 00-09. Advantage 00-09 --00-09 (actually 99-00 thru 08-09) had 2 ratters, 3 meh winters, 5 good ones including the two snowiest. 09-10 thru 18-19 had 3 ratters, one meh, and 6 good winters. Advantage 10-19. For extreme events, it's 00-09. For consistency, it's 10-19. For snowpack, 10-19 leads in days with 1" to 29" while 00-09 is ahead for 30"+ and for average of winter's deepest, 31" to 30". Call it a draw.

The 4 Seasons
My #2 all time favorite. An event that lasted Sunday afternoon until almost midnight on Tuesday. Forecast was a bust and we still got about 12-18 statewide. I remember watching NBC30 while in VT when watches just went up. I believe Bob Maxon had 24-36" in the NW hills, 18-24" for central CT and 12-18" for southern and SE CT. I also remember Paul Kocin talking about this is likely going to be the biggest storm in over 50 years (prob a ref. to the blizzard 1947). This was a huge bust for the cities, Central Park only received 3.5" and Boston received 9.8". Both those cities i believe were in the 1-2 foot range maybe 3 feet. This was a huge interior event with southern NH, VT and NY getting up to 3 feet. My #1 all time coming soon... One of the cleaner, esthetically speaking, looking maps I've made. 2
