codfishsnowman Posted February 19 Share Posted February 19 PD2 was a big storm when I lived in Bristol CT with around 16 inches but really wasn't that exciting. 1" hr rates with fair snow growth. What was more interesting was how it kept creeping north and how slowly north the leading edge was moving. Also really cool was that Sunday had textbook increasing high clouds with bitter cold temps and calm wind. High was around 10 above that day before the storm. One, a little west of the house, about 20 feet, to a level with the eaves. There is an addition on the west of Dr. Buel‘s house, reaching- about to the eaves, which is almost completely covered by the snow, so that our reporter, walking- along the top of the drift, passed completely over the roof of this part of the house, and down on the northern side. Me too but quite forgettable. All at night and was in and out in a few hours, sun came up roads clear in the morning. I was actually thinking the same exact thing about 09-10 and specifically 08-09. I thought 08-09 was pretty shitty but wait till you see the maps and seasonal snowfall for that season. 08-09 is actually tied with the most number of snowfall maps for one season that ive done so far from 08-09 to 23-24. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Throw in 25" of snow from multiple events (in addition to the late December snows) and it was quite a stretch. We reached 31° on 3 different days that month but never got higher. 16th-17th had lows of -36/-34, the 2 coldest mornings in our 26 winters here. (And Big Black River in the far NW hit -50 for a new state record.) Then February had 33" from storms of 8.5" and 24.5" 19th-23rd, briefly raising the pack to 51", though it had settled to 49 by my 9 PM obs time.
