Well it's been snowing fairly lightly and continuously since 11 am and it seems like the snowfall rate has been roughly equal to the melting rate (I'm guessing we've had about 0.1-0.2" snow per hour and that's the likely melting rate), so I'm going to stick with the 3.25" I measured at 11 am. It also hasn't wavered from 32F since 9 am.

With the sun much lower in the sky now, it's likely that any additional snow will accumulate, but the storm's precip looks to be close to over, except for the coast and LI. If this is the last of it, that brings our seasonal total up to 18.5", which is very c;lose to normal for this point in the season.

Well, it just kept snowing on and off, lightly, through much of the evening and we got another 1/4" of snow, for a total of 3.5" and 3.0-3.6" amounts were recorded very near to me (Parlin, Hopelawn, Carteret, South Plainfield, etc. (and most of these were from around 4-5 pm, before the last 1/4" fell).

Nice storm, reasonably well forecast by the NWS with 1-3" amounts for most of SEPA/SNJ (S of 276/195) and 2-4" amounts for most of PA/NJ N of that line up to 78 (except only 1-2" at the coast) and 3-6" amounts for NWNJ and the Lehigh Valley (which were definitely well under-forecast). NYC/NENJ got 2-3" for the most part and LI got 3-5" (also under-forecast).  3.5" brings our seasonal total up to 18.75". NWS map of reports is below, but not a final map yet, as there are many incomplete reports in there and in the PNS lists.

ISP with the undermeasure for once

They all F up once in a while which you can forgive.

The Parks 1.6 yesterday underdone again for the fourth time this season. Looks like they're reverting back to the Zookeeper days. Hoping they fix it before they scroo up another historic storm.

5.8" total here.  Good snow day for the family.  Local jackpot here and my son with the full event jackpot in PVD.  His school is closed.  Smithtown seasonal total is 33.1"

Interesting to note that the Smithtown spotter reporting 5.8" on the OKX PNS is not me.  He/she is on the south side of town and sometimes reports some creative numbers on windy storms (e.g., about 50% more than I had in the big January storm).  Very unusual for us to have similar amounts.

HRRR did a great job with this event. I remember rooting hard for HRRR to be correct about getting several inches up here when most other models were showing little or saying you'd have to go south of the NYC area get more than an inch or so. It was impressive how HRRR picked up on the idea of northern areas getting several inches at 48 hours out and locked into that solution over the 2 days leading up to the event. It never wavered a bit with the snowy solution. Definitely a nice victory for the HRRR.

NYC metro seasonal and our's up here in this part of extreme nw NJ about the same.  Not much room for complaint NYC metro.  This part of Wantage NJ seasonal 17.5 (3.1 yesterday).

16 for me for the year in northern Morris county ,  painful year snow wise  to say the least . Only plus is snow cover for a good part of the winter  from early January on

Yesterdays 5.8" snowfall melted to 0.44" water.  That's 13.2:1

Ratios were lower early in the event (and we might have lost a couple of hundredths to melting) and quite high during that nice finale that piled up during the game last night.  Anyone's guess, but I wouldn't be shocked if the last inch or two of snow was at 20:1.

Agreed... Our time is coming even despite my own expectations of zero new snowfall here prior to March 1.

First 2-3 weeks of March look pretty good for an opportunity or two for 6+. That's hope.  I'll accept that.

How much did PVD have? I heard close to a foot in parts of Rhode Island?  8" in Boston?

Yesterdays 5.8" snowfall melted to 0.44" water.  That's 13.2:1

Ratios were lower early in the event (and we might have lost a couple of hundredths to melting) and quite high during that nice finale that piled up during the game last night.  Anyone's guess, but I wouldn't be shocked if the last inch or two of snow was at 20:1.

What time did it finally stop snowing by you Ed?

Agreed... Our time is coming even despite my own expectations of zero new snowfall here prior to March 1.

First 2-3 weeks of March look pretty good for an opportunity or two for 6+. That's hope.  I'll accept that.

Thats awesome March, hopefully we can all get at least another 6-10.  My tally was 4" in this storm and 25" so far for the season very close to normal.

There was a storm like this back in February sometime in the early 90s.  It was supposed to just be a frontal passage with rain changing to snow and ending, well it ended up snowing all day with temps of between 33-34 and it only stuck on grass but then it snowed all night too and got heavier and we got 8 inches in a narrow band from Newark to NYC through Long Island and it snowed for 36 hours straight!  One of my all time favorite storms and a complete surprise, as no accumulation was expected.  A low formed along the front and stalled SE of the Hamptons.

Im really curious about this storm if its the one Im thinking of. I know there was always some start when I was a kid that it was supposed to be like 40s and rain and then it surprisingly changed to heavy snow and was like some huge surprise and I never knew what storm that was. I imagine models were less accurate than.
