bowtie`
Flood warning has verified in my county. The one tributary we have, Prairie Creek rose to 11.73 feet sometime around seven p.m.. Moderate flood stage for that gauge is 11.0 feet. And that is the highest that gauge has been since 2018.
OrdIowPitMsp
Missed the main band of snow scooting just north of town with the cold front. Models have latched onto the idea of snow squalls/squall line of snow developing late morning/early afternoon just south of us. Might get a brief period of snow but looks like we’ll be in the screw zone. At least early next week looks promising.
CheeselandSkies
Potential for a rather high-end (by our standards) synoptic wind event has kind of snuck up on us. Chief met at my employer mentioning potential for >50 MPH gusts this afternoon and evening. MKX has posted a wind advisory.

OrdIowPitMsp
Snow squall development occurred to our west and we were placed under a WWA, it’s currently puking big fat flakes. Too bad it’ll be short lived because this is SN+

Brian D
2" of fluff will be blowing around pretty good here soon. NW winds up to 40-45 mph slated for later this aftrn. Frequent small snows are the norm for my area during winter. edit: winds kicking up pretty good now. Whiteout conditions at times with the fresh powder. ILSNOW
Top 5 snow event While the cold front will become increasingly removed the eastward moving mid-level trough and moisture, these showers are expected to survive into at least northern Illinois early to mid-evening. Several snow squall ingredients will be in place, chiefly a linear forcing mechanism with sufficient low- level instability nearing 50 J/kg in the well-mixed layer in the lowest 6kft. Brief sharp reductions in visibility (possibly near white-out) and quick accumulations of a half inch to very locally 1 inch in 30 minutes or less are possible across northern Illinois. Timing favors 6-8pm for the Rockford area and 8-10pm for most of the Chicago metro.

hawkeye_wx
A nice snow squall would have been nice, but with a temp of 40º here it is falling as rain. It'll probably finish as a bit of snow, but it shouldn't amount to much.
