Chicago Storm
Snow squall weakened prior to hitting here at home, but still came through with a period of 3/4SM visibility and ~45MPH wind gusts.
RogueWaves
For once, it's not 131 and west.. Quote UPDATE Issued at 700 PM EST Fri Feb 18 2022 - Expect the heaviest snow showers late this evening Currently the band of snow showers, just ahead of the arctic front, at 630 pm this evening extends from Alpena, to near Traverse City, to La Cross Wisconsin, which by the way is currently gusting to 61 mph! Time of the snow squalls with the arctic front suggest it will reach the Grand Rapids to Holland area in the 9 pm to 11 pm time frame. Model soundings do actually show some shallow instability, which helps explain gusts to 61 mph at La Cross. Another point to note with the snow showers, due to the 40 to 60 knot winds in the clouds, the heaviest snowfall will be well inland of the lake shore, near or even a touch west of US-131 from near Tustin through Big Rapids, to Grand Rapids and finally Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. Due to better moisture depth and the longevity of the deeper moisture the heaviest snowfalls will be north of Grand Rapids. The main area of snow showers should be out of this area by 2 to 3 am but lingering lake enhanced snow showers wind gusty winds will continue into mid morning.

Torchageddon
I was put under a blizzard warning as I'm near the lake, one of those diluted ones. Its pretty bad out right now so I'll have to get up early to see if it verifies. During the last few years the last 10 days of Feb seem to feature the worst of winter.

Powerball
It's crazy that the squall line is still going strong into PA and NY. Might even make it to Philly and NYC later today.

Torchageddon
We had our 1 hour of winter fun for the season with the passage of 2 LES bands that brought whiteout conditions in Huron and Grey-Bruce counties (and eastwards towards Barrie). It wasn't quite the blizzard conditions I was hoping for compared to similar setups from other years, but seeing blue skies and the sun within minutes was once again a feature. This winter is still a 0 like the previous five. 30 mins of neat wx during a season is remarkably lame. The evolution of these bands is interesting on radar:

michsnowfreak
It slept through the squall line because it was right in the middle of the night lol. I estimated 0.4" of snow for my records but there's literally no way to tell how much fell it was just nothing but 45 to 50 mile per hour winds and drifting.
OrdIowPitMsp
Low of -1 this morning. Temps have been steadily rising ever since. Could push the mid 40s tomorrow before the long duration snows begin. Highest temperature of the year imby is 43.
Brian D
Was looking at where we are for my area as far as avg temps go. It's looking like a top 10 Feb. With temps slated to be well below normal for the rest of the month (avgs are rising now), with a couple exceptions, don't see much change from the current standings. Hibbing has 2022 as being in 1st right now by well over a degree, so it will be interesting to see if that holds up with 10 days of data yet to come in with the current forecasted temps. And many times the forecast lows are exceeded by a good 5-10d for the areas away from the Lake.
weatherbo
After high winds and 6" of new snow yesterday, had partial clearing for a good bit of today before it clouded back over before dark, the current temp of 12 is the high. Above freezing tomorrow for only the second time since Dec 16th and then it looks like 1-2 feet of snow is possible.

bowtie`
So, all you winter weather weenies, which looks coldest? The ice in color, yes, the bank next door has those yellow sodium security lights. Or the ice in B&W which is a bit blander.

The first pic offers too much warmth.

cyclone77
You can tell the sun is already getting stronger. Even though it only made it to 23 today, the full sun melted off most of the 0.8" that fell last evening in areas that weren't shaded. Looking forward to the 50s tomorrow. EDIT: May make another run at 60 tomorrow upon further look. Record is 74 though, so we'll be far from that. That 74 happened back in the great Feb torch of '17. Can't believe that's been 5 years ago already.

As soon as the shadows shifted whatever melted instantly refroze. Still looks and feels like deep Winter here however the sun angle is making its presence felt. hawkeye_wx
Cedar Rapids just hit 50º for the first time this year. It's still chilly because the wind is strong, but it's a nice spring tease.
Chambana
41 and the drip drip is on. This weeks pattern looks like a wash rinse and repeat of last week. Regardless of what happens, the spring itch is coming very soon. I bought a black stone and I’m desperately ready to sit on the patio and cook.
