NASA's got their U2 flying around the storm at 60k feet:

Edit: And a P3 at 15k feet: https://www.flightradar24.com/NASA426/2ab50e24

Yeah, we're also doing extra soundings every 3 hours to provide additional data.

We tried to during the blizzard as well but lost two balloons that were shredded in the wind and a third sonde hit a tree (or the radar?) and lost signal.

GORHAM, N.H. —

People in the Gorham area were awoken to an earthquake early Friday morning.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 2.9-magnitude earthquake hit around 12:39 a.m. just south-southwest of Gorham.

Gorham police told News 9 the tremor could be felt in Berlin, Groveton, North Conway and other surrounding areas.

Police said there were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries.

Looks like the 30F isotherm is roughly from Chelmsford to Burlington to Winchester to Revere....it goes further south the closer to the coast you are.

The Euro actually ended up pretty darned good with rotting us near 31-32F for several hours before the 20s get here. But we're pounding sleet anyway despite being near freezing....since it's frigid just off the deck at 925-950.

An earthquake of a 2.0 - 2.9 magnitude is small and if youre more than a few miles away you may not feel it.

However, I was once at a friends house when a 2.0 quake ripped right under our block. It sounded and felt like a truck had driven into the house, but our hood was the only in town who felt it!!

A 2.9 however is much larger than 2.0 and 2.9 likely had a truck-into-house effect over a much larger area.

Should you ever experience a 5.5 or 6.0 quake rip centered right under your house you are in deep sh*t.
