February 3-4 significant icing event for the interior, some sleet/snow possible. Coast mostly rain.

Quite a bit of precipitation still to move through New Jersey where temperatures are cooling right now. Becoming a bit more concerned about areas in North Jersey.  Luckily the cold air was slow to arrive or else it would have been a much different situation like they're seeing up in Ulster.

Going to be a slow drop now through the afternoon. Most areas won’t touch 32 until this evening. Might not be much precipitation left by then

That’s not half the forum and the back edge of precipitation is in eastern Pa

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SATURDAY MORNING/...
-- Changed Discussion --

At or below freezing temperatures have worked down into the NYC metro and as far east as interior SW CT. Due to the shallow nature of the cold air, it has struggled to get across the hills of western CT. The Hudson River Valley has made it easier for a more southward progression initially. As the colder air gradually deepens, it will continue to expand south and east across CT and LI. Winter weather advisories remain in effect until 7 pm for all but SE CT and eastern LI, where it is in effect until 10 pm. Far eastern areas will likely not see freezing rain until around 00Z (give or take an hour). An additional tenth to quarter inch liquid equivalent is possible before the event comes to an end for far eastern areas late this evening. This will result in up to an additional tenth of an inch of ice across interior sections of CT, with a light glaze down at the coast. Upper portions of the Lower Hudson Valley will likely go over to all sleet with little additional ice accretion. Some areas have seen close to half an inch, with some reports even higher up above 500ft. High pressure over the Midwest will then build slowly east overnight, while the departing frontal system works across the western Atlantic. Much of the night will remain overcast with strong cold advection on N-NW winds at 10 to 15 mph. Lows by daybreak will range form the lower to mid teens well inland, to the lower 20s at the coast. This is a few degrees below normal.

I believe this is old.

Getting treacherous in Sparta with the setting sun.  Sleet and freezing rain mix.  Ice accretion was minimal all day but has picked up in the past two hours.  Temp is down to 30 and all surfaces are icing over.  Ironically, a good coating of sleet could be modestly helpful, at least for walking the dog.

Wantage 4sw: Estimated 0.1" radial ice on branches... temp hovered near 30-31 most of the day and now at 430PM 29F, everything untreated is icing with freezing drizzle, snow grains and a bit of recent sleet. Roads in Sussex County, Sussex southward were good today-wet. Vernon-Highland Lakes looks like trouble from what I've seen in pics. I was in Sandyston near the Delaware and the Noon temp of 35 was well modeled by the high res, well in advance, while all the cold air banked up on the Kittatinny ridge just east of CR 653 Montague. Event total qpf at least 2.24". Walt 452PM

23° with sleet finally in Highland Mills Orange County.

Everything bending under the weight of the ice. Still astonished we have power, hopefully I didn't jinx it.

Snow pack at 6 inches with a LE of I'd guess 2 inches +. It's not going anywhere soon. Solid cover since January 7th and counting.

And Boston lost their two foot cover in five days. I can't help but chuckle.

The 30 degree line is now around the cross county parkway, anywhere above there is getting really really messy and anywhere below may get messy if that line drops any further south.

Noticeable difference here in the last hour. Trees are icy and sidewalks starting to ice over. I'm down to 29 in the bx. Based on NYC micronets, 28 at Lehman College, 29 by Parkchester, 29 at Queens College
