That's a 12:1 ratio roughly.  When I posted around 4 am I was speculating our ratios weren't nearly as good as predicted by the NWS (14:1) and guessed that I had probably gotten 12-13:1 ratios on a post on 33.  And Kuchera was estimating about 15:1.  Had 5.5" at 7 am and doubt I've had more than 1/2" since then, which would give me 6", but will measure shortly - that ~10 miles east of me really helped you get 1-2" more

I can see how geographic orientation/slope and gradation is a factor in snow drifts and accumulation measurements. Here in Maspeth, Queens, near the embankment of the Ridgewood Plateau, on the north facing steep side, I'm experiencing higher totals than a mere half mile away in locations that are more level. This is very pronounced following the banding this morning which has come in with gustier winds, and wind driven-lateral snowfall.

That being said, very hard to measure, 7"-9" in Maspeth, Queens. Still some ways to go...

...NEAR BLIZZARD TO BLIZZARD CONDITIONS THROUGH THIS MORNING...

Heavy snow, blowing and drifting snow, and strong winds will create
dangerous travel conditions through the morning. Snowfall rates will
range from 1 to 2 inches an hour with locally 3 inches an hour
possible. The highest snowfall rates are most likely across the east
end of Long Island.

Travel is strongly discouraged! If you must travel, bring a winter
survival kit. If you become stranded, stay with your vehicle.

Wow at the band around Riverhead and just SE. There'll be 20" easy in that area.

I hopefully get to 15". The crazy band potential is over here IMO but enough meat left to go to add several or more inches still.

Your house in Huntington is getting blitzed, this band hasn’t moved for hours

Middle of Staten Island here.   The photo was taken at 8:31am and there's eight inches on that table. (The umbrella stand that is sticking out is nine inches above the table surface.  Still coming down at a pretty good clip.
