There's a snow squall warning for Somerset and SE now. If it holds together its gonna come close to me, but probably miss to the East. From what I understand these are the first snow squall warnings ever issued in the state of Kentucky.

Hopefully @Kentucky gets in on it. JKL says 30+MPH winds and less than 1/4th mile visibility. So basically a mini blizzard.

There is a very heavy slug of moisture that is going to lay down some accumulation just south of Chattanooga across Ne Alabama and NW Georgia. What a miserable winter this has been.

I can't complain much as I've done well this winter. It is frustrating that for 2 hours and band has been a mile from here and it just won't get here.

Not my pic but was on one of the roads I drove on earlier in the Mayland area of Crossville. This is the band that eventually moved down through Decatur and Athens.

Ended up getting about a 10 min shower..got a dusting in the grass. Thats actually decent for this type system.

Similar situation here. Really good January but missed an hour of really heavy snow about 1-5 miles west of here in that band and only have about 1.5" if that here but 3-4" a little west. Might get another half inch tonight but not sure.

I've finally given up on that to my west, appears my best chances are now from the north.

Finally steady snow here now. I'd guess 3 miles west of me has 2 to 3 inches. 75 is not doing well on TDOT smartway.

Yeah, that band looks like it has been slowing crawling down 75.

That band finally made it to me after like Micheal Jackson moonwalking in place for an hour. Bursting light snow and breezy at 30 degrees.

Quarters and nickels falling again. 27 degrees. Around 3/4ths inch. Its looking more ragged up stream.

MRX evening update raised totals in Knoxville area to around an inch. We shall see…..

After getting missed to the west all night it looks like the snow squall in Kentucky is going to miss me to the east by a couple of miles.

Just saw a FB video down in Caryville on the valley floor, it was near whiteout conditions with at least a couple of inches down.

Heavy dusting here.  It is often difficult to tell what is going to make it over the mountains between KY/VA.  Bands can be pretty random at times.

These types of bands are great if you get one over your area for a significant amount of time, but they can also be very frustrating to track.

It's actually pouring here now. The radar went from ragged to booming. Visibility is between 1/4th and 1/2 mile. Classic powdery snow. 

My friend who lives by Cove Lake at 1050 feet has over 2 inches. So it's completely non elevation driven. It's just luck of the bands driven.

These never do justice to how hard it's actually snowing. I think it's the led motion light, but its heavy with 1/4th mile vis and swirling winds.
