One of the really awesome aspects of this storm is the potential for a long duration event thanks in part to the interaction with the cold front coming in from the lakes.

The 18z NAM has light to moderate snow breaking out over the area well ahead of the coastal storm thanks to this interaction.

It's basically like a PRE....Lee Goldberg was just talking about this and said the snow will move in early just like it did with Boxing Day

I think we should name this storm Hercules, because he was the step son of Juno (Hera in Greek mythology-- wife of Zeus),  and no matter how much she tried to ruin him, Hercules triumphed at every labor she put on him.

GFS bringing the storm back?

All it would take for a better scenario is a slightly faster ejection of the sw.

There's time for that to happen but it could just as easily trend the other way. Eastern SNE is in a much better spot. We need the perfect thread the needle solution.

Eastern NE also has a much higher chance to change to rain

Lee Goldberg is already honking on this storm, saying the chances are getting stronger that this will be a high impact event for our area with two days of snowfall 60+ mph winds and lots of coastal flooding.

What does Janice Huff think?
