WinterWxLuvr
We need that ns to pull our sw back. Gotta increase that spacing. Gfs currently all over the place in the upper levels. Gonna be changes. Count on it. 2

While I don’t think DC will accrete 0.5” of ice, clearly the threat is there for an impactful event.

Falls into the upper 20s while there’s still a few hours of precip. Mid 20s along the MD. Quite the setup for around here that is not common. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Chris78
The gfs is actually a little colder along the M/D during the day on Friday compared to 18z. Low 20's at 1pm and transitioning to snow after alot of ice. Would be pretty rough travel in Northern MD Friday afternoon and night. 30 degrees freezing rain is one thing. 23 degrees freezing rain is another.

Long duration moisture feed . Your area along the M/D border out west to Garrett County and the 81 corridor (Winchester) are definitely favored right now for seeing the biggest impacts. Could be nasty if the GFS temps are right (low to mid 20s in those areas).

Chris78
The Canadian and ukmet still want nothing to do with this. Canadian still has the freezing line up in PA as of 7pm on Friday
nj2va
GGEM continues to lag the GFS with the cold push. Has DC reaching the 60s Friday morning. 12z Friday has the freezing line crossing through Garrett County vs draped through most of C/N MD on the GFS. Icing is confined to western MD on the GGEM as precip shuts off by the time the surface is below freezing.

However, moving from central Maryland to northern Maryland only does so much when big snowstorms keep occurring 200+ miles in any given direction all season lol. Last year? Your move would have been fruitful. Perhaps the start to this season is our karma for getting 40-50” last year while the metros barely hit double digits. Got very lucky last winter up this way. It’s only early February though, and the time is quickly approaching for a) deeper storms with a likelihood for more coastal huggers b) marginal events with more traditional fall line setups. We’ll catch up, and quickly. Keep the faith! Have a feeling our luck will improve drastically over the coming 6-8 weeks
