Well had a mix for a while last night but never switched over even though temp was 33/34.

Finally changed to sleet and snow a few.minutes ago at 32. Was expecting the changeover by noon but seemed like forever. Radar looks decent.  Hoping it over performs.   Rgem is busting pretty bad on temps. About 5 or 6 degrees too warm here right now.

Winds were of  course ridiculous but finally have calmed down. Top gust was 43.

It's been light snow and sleeting around 26 degrees since 3AM here in SW CLT near the Airport. I have about 2-3 inches on the ground with the roads covered in snow and it's still falling.

The dry air as shown in the water vapor imagery will likely dry things out before the freezing rain can for in the west side of Metro Charlotte.

I'm sure it's going to wrap up soon across the region as it's starting to evaporate from the radar returns near Spartanburg. Dry air punching in

30 and frzn rain here in Rockingham,NC a little sleet on the ground…no snow :(

Lookout,

HRRR nailed it here in upstate sc. We had 8 inches of snow early then freezing rain & sleet since about 8am now heavy sleet really gusty winds and more snow this afternoon. Even Weather Channel nailed it here they had 5-8 inches of snow by morning while NWS dropped totals to 1-3 last evening for entire event. They originally had 8+ here not sure why they changed when most of models were coming in colder last night.IMG_20220116_074433393.thumb.jpg.aebf7773397f2eb2f6475a8ed45db10b.jpg How much more snow are you thinking this afternoon when ULL comes through?

Happy for my west nc brethren. The pattern looks good for more. Still 28* here with zr/ip north of wake forest

Me too.  Prefer a bit less of zr for everyone but otherwise peeps to our west in NC, upstate SC, and even parts of North Ga doing very well.
