The 500 mb trough passage is expected to occur across southern
portions of mid state region as morning hours progress and then
during afternoon hours across Cumberland Plateau. This due to
current surface and upper level lows progression northeastward
out of southern MS River Valley Region but remain south of mid
state region until they approach southern portions of Cumberland
Plateau Region as afternoon hours progress. There is also no
guarantee that enhanced snow bands might develop further north
than expected either. Careful monitoring of temperature trends
along with noting development of mircoscale features such as
localized areas for enhanced up right convection development
will need to be monitored through the evening hours tonight.
Area road conditions are likely to deterioate as day progresses,
even across most traveled mid state roadways. Thus only plan to
travel if absolutely necessary, especially across Cumberland
Plateau Region. It is not totally out of the question that some
of the higher elevations across Upper Cumberland Region locally
could get a foot of snowfall accumulation, making travel nearly
impossible. Also play a role across mainly eastern portions of
mid state region will be development of a strong low level
atmospheric pressure gradient which could result in wind gust
30 to around 35 mph at times especially across Cumberland Plateau
Region.

Drove all the way to about 15 minutes north of Crossville and back, rain all the way. Coldest I saw was 35 at around 1600 feet.

You could've went to WATE website to look at the weather camera ay Fairfield Glade instead lol. Either way, this is busting big time right now in Crossville and a lot of other areas. The heavy stuff falling the past hour or two was supposed to be snow but is rain. I'm not seeing the 5"-10" on the WSW currently. We still have most of the snow on the ground somehow that fell this morning but since then it's been almost all rain I think

Temperature is finally starting to drop here. Down to 37.
You're in E. Brainerd, correct? Walk outside and check the sky. I'm in Ooltewah not too far from you and we have light rain but an occasional snowflake will mix in. If we do change over to snow, it would really help us to get a quicker changeover, similar to what Huntsville is seeing. My fear is changing over to get a good snow going only to swap back and forth from rain/snow. The temps are killing us with this system. Odds are very slim to get under a heavy band but I guess it could happen for us. That's our only hope with the temps being so warm.
