MRX just issued a Special Weather Statement for Roane County and counties south of here. Probably just to be cautious and at least mention the possibility of a dusting to an inch. I really have no idea what to expect here. I have a feeling someone, somewhere is going to get a surprise or two.

dwagner88
I’m just completely shocked that there are no advisories out at all for the 20,000 people that live at elevation in Hamilton county. Makes no sense to me at all.

PowellVolz
MRX is officially on crack or second shift has taken over. They raised my totals up to 2” an hour ago and put me under a WWA. Now they have lowered my totals to 1/2” to 1”. . 2

John1122
Looks like MRX finally bit on the models here. Hopefully their faith us rewarded. It's drizzling here with a few melty flakes mixed in. I drove up to 2000 feet and it was snowing dime sized flakes. So Hopefully we can get some rate driven cooling. 4

It's wild that they would raise it just a couple of hours before they give the afternoon update, and then lower it. I could see if an event was ongoing and over or under performing, and people needed info, but that's just extra work, lol.

Thus is from my PWS, recording the pressure wave from the Tonga explosion, would have been around time 12z to 18z data was being ingested. Neat! Just thought I would add my own pressure reading.

TellicoWx
18z GFS doesn't back down...19z HRRR continued the colder trend out west. This is either going to be one of the greatest model fails in history..or alot of offices are going to be scrambling.
Holston_River_Rambler
It looks like it is still digging to me. I think it will make a run at the Gulf: Nice t-storms starting to pop there too (thankfully not parallel to the coast to cut off moisture. 4

PowellVolz
Observation that probably won’t mean much but the skies have cleared out in Knoxville and we might get some radiational cooling. .
ShawnEastTN
All kind of confused my MRX forecast snow according to their map is 1-2" and Knoxville .5-1" Knox under advisory Roane/Meigs not, this really is bizarre even for normal MRX snow storms.Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

AMZ8990
According to the fine folks in Ark/Kansas Thread, The HRR was 10 degrees too warm on their forecast for today. Had them at 42 and they haven’t got over freezing all day. Looks like they’ve picked up 1-3 inches of surprise snow in spots that weren’t expecting much. Figured some of you would enjoy knowing the HRR forecast overdid the high temps today in northern/central Arkansas
Uncle Nasty
There is a room available there, going to try and convince the wife to do a little getaway Take a spray bottle and fill it with alcohol to put a mist in the sheets and bed. Can't be too careful with bed bugs, especially on the "less roads traveled" hotels/motels. Kidding but not really. After that storm, Congress passed a bill mandating NOAA/NWS improve their forecasting (also known as WRN, or Weather Ready Nation)..it lead to the birth of the NBM. 3

I honestly don’t know what to think though. I’m gonna try and stay up to nowcast tonight in bolivar, maybe then we can come up with the best spot to go hunting for a big snow.
