Coach B
I measured a full inch already here in Marshall county. It was absolutely dumping quarter sized flakes at 5:30. Unfortunately it has switched back to rain. Kind of surprised that it flipped back after pouring heavy snow.
Jed33
Got some sleet mixing in here too but the flake size of the snow is very impressive!
AMZ8990
Took awhile to change over here but I’ve had light sleet for the last hour. Good glaze on everything. Snow is mixing in now
Dsty2001
Also to note, had to run out about an hour ago and the tires were spinning some, so it's getting slick on the roads already 1

I assume that’s from the sleet mixing in.

1234snow
All sleet here for the past hour. The fun is over here.
John1122
Half dollar sized snowflakes and sleet that is just enough to keep me from really racking up. Ground is white now on grassy areas.
Wintersnow888
Dropped to 30 degrees now ,have some sleet mixing in but road and everything is covered
Icy Hot
Warm nose has made it all the way to the VA line now. Sleet and 34 here.
Jed33
In a lull right now but the roads are slushy from the snow and sleet and even believe I had some ZR at the end. Fun while it lasted. There was close to a half in of snow and sleet there at one point.
BlunderStorm
Precip rate has lowered and the sleet is beginning to more closely resemble graupel (sorta). Overall it looks like Clinch mountain is up to its old downslope tricks for my microclimate. The 850 level must be a mess. Lol, I'll never forget how much of a bust I got from a nearly identical setup on radar back in December 2018. I was so pissed I screenshot an Intellicast radar frame and made this little piece of "art" in MS paint. In retrospect not my finest moment. This time it was to be expected. Anyway, how are things goin on the plateau and west is the snow holding? 1 2
Dsty2001
Wasn't most of the east valleys totals supposed to come from later today/tonight anyways?

John1122
Not sure how long it's gonna last, but I've unlocked super fatties code. Bigger than silver dollar size flakes. It's like wet cookies falling. 6
*Flash*
1" on the ground similar to Coach B's report. But back to a cold rain with some sleet mixing in. I hope this changes over soon before all the snow is washed away.
John1122
I started as snow, changed to light rain, went to rain snow, then to snow and sleet, then 10 minutes of heavy rain, now huge flakes of heavy snow. 32.4 degrees. 2
fountainguy97
Mix of sleet and snow the last 2 hours. Slush/icy half inch on roads. We will slowly warm up this afternoon but the real shot of snow happens late this afternoon and overnight with the back side and NW flow. IMO this front side has over performed for my area 1

Jesse from KY
We already have a coating of snow on the ground here in Northern Bell County. But there also has been some sleet and/or freezing rain falling as well. It looks to have tapered off as of 8:10...Temperature 32F

Switching back and forth from sleet to snow but the temperature continues to fall - dropping from 30 to 29 right now maybe because wind has really picked up the last four 1
John1122
Temp continues to fall and the column is likely cooling. The huge flakes that were happening have gotten smaller, thicker in the air and the visibility has lowered. The huge flakes were some above freezing air from above me to the surface causing flakes to melt into each other.
Carvers Gap
We are on the front end of this. Right now rain, sleet, and snow with freezing rain. Looks like a dry slot and then we wait for the backside of this. Total slop fest here and mess! We must have dropped below freezing as raised surfaces are now coated with a thin glaze of ice.

dwagner88
CC line is still racing this direction. It’s reached the AL/GA line. Sounds like Huntsville has changed over. That’s always been one of my canaries in the coal mine. We can definitely still miss out when they get hit (it’s already happened this year), but it’s a decent indication of things to come. BlunderStorm
About 1/10th an inch of sleet has accumulated. Temperatures as of 8:30 stand at 27 and remain stable. Up until now winds were steadily increasing but I think this trend may be thankfully ending. I think I'll take the dry slot over an ice skating rink. *Flash*
I’m concerned the precip shield will pull away before we can change back over. Will have to head down 24 to play it safe today.
