I'm going with an estimate of 6.2" for a total.  It's more a guess than anything, based on earlier measurements and more hours of solid snow into the night, because it's impossible to measure.
Des Moines officially received 14.3".

That 14.3” at DSM is highly suspect.

It’s the highest reported total anywhere so far (IA and the region), and is nearly 2” higher then the next highest max report.

You’re not missing anything. I’ve been sitting under it for 2hrs and it’s just a few flakes flying. It looks more impressive on radar than it really is. Not even a dusting.

Basically you need to be under the dark blue/green to see anything substantial. Very narrow bands. Typical.

I measured over 4" in one hour as that band moved through.

Keep us posted! That band is unbelievable! Reminded me of that one years ago that pounded Binghamton except not stationary but this keeps backbuilding south. Surprised TWC didn't have someone in this area for coverage. Models were always looking good for this area. Think there's any lake enhancement with this band or think it's pure synoptic?

Incredible band, highest synoptic snowfall rates I've seen here. Still nothing compares to the 6"+ per rates in Nov of 2014 but this was insane!

CC showing signs of mixing to your south but seems to not be advancing north for now. Could be because they bands are convective almost in nature. Even if sleet mixes in, the rates will likely compensate

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Buffalo NY

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TODAY/...
...MAJOR WINTER STORM TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY...

Regional radars showing an intense band of snow moving north across
Western NY, with confirmed snowfall rates of 3-4"/hr and
extremely large dendrite conglomorates. A few spotter reports
and webcam imagery show sleet mixing in close to Lake Erie, a
result of strong downsloping off the higher terrain of NW PA and
the Southern Tier. This mix with sleet won`t last too long, but
may briefly spread into other areas in Western and Central NY
overnight. We expect the heaviest snowfall rates of 2-4"/hr to
fall between now and 6am, then snowfall rates will back off to a
more manageable 1-2" per hour.
