wolfie09 Posted January 10, 2022 Author Share Posted January 10, 2022 Heavy lake snows across Oswego county this afternoon will be brought to an abrupt end early this evening...courtesy of an arctic cold front that is charging south from just the other side of Lake Ontario. Before that occurs though...another 6 to 10 inches of snow will fall over the northern half of Oswego county between 1 PM and 7 PM. As the arctic cold front plows south through the region tonight... it will be marked by a 30-60 min burst of moderate to heavy snow in most locations. For the counties lining the New York shores of Lake Ontario and Erie...the snow will be lake enhanced and will likely lead to nighttime snow accums of 3 to 6 inches. Winter weather advisories are in effect for these areas. Areas outside of these lake enhanced counties should pick up a general 1 to 3 inches of snow. Lower amounts will be found north of the Tug. The other issue tonight...and lasting through the first half of Tuesday...will be bitter cold wind chills east of Lake Ontario. The sub arctic airmass will sent he mercury to between zero and the minus teens for that area...and with winds averaging 10 to 15 mph... that will generate wind chill values of -20 F over Oswego county to as low as -30F for parts of Jefferson and Lewis counties.
