The National Weather Service has advisories posted. You can include the city itself in that currently. On the uws currently sleet and freezing rain mix. Paved surfaces with a crunchy glaze. Not sure how long we can hold on to this.

gravitylover
I've had a couple of bursts of pretty heavy rain. The first it was 25° when it started and everything froze up instantly then the second round a few minutes later was heavier and it was 27°. I have a feeling that when the sun comes up it's going to be really pretty but scary. Now it's flurrying and 28°.
gravitylover
Oh damn that's not flurries. It's light rain and ice pellets mixed with a few mangled flakes. It's getting louder

LongBeachSurfFreak
Even with temps now above freezing I’m having a ton of ice issues on campus. Luckily it’s winter break. Yesterday’s 19 really chilled paved and brick surfaces and it just takes time and a lot of salt to stop.
the_other_guy
The Cross County Parkway seems to be the freezing line. Once you get to the city you’re above 32F
FPizz
Actually looks like I had a little dusting of snow before a glaze of ice this morning. Very slick out there.
gravitylover
This is a mess. I live on a dead end and the cross street is a 20% grade below and nearly 30 above. There were a half dozen cars scattered with 3 in yards. No real damage because they all stopped right off the pavement but the street wasn't even walkable. There was a cop here and he had to walk up a block from the bottom to direct the salt truck and stop more cars from turning onto the hill. It looks better now but it just rained hard for a few minutes and it's still 31°.
Big Jims Videos
What a mess this morning. The alert went out at 3 pm yesterday which should have meant plenty of timing to get the roads pre-treated. I heard from so many folks today they didn't see any salt trucks out last night until the rain moved in.

STORMANLI
And jump from 26f to 36f 156am-256am. Did that S 6 really advect in higher T/DP air? Drop fron 41f to 36f occurred with winds shifting to NW 8. Or ASOS temp/dp fail? KISP T Drop fron 41f to 33f occurred with winds shifting to NW 8. There was some sort of boundary in the area that I wouldn't have expected to fluctuate towards the colder at that time. I looked at a PWS just west of ISP and it did not bear out the ISP readings, but looking at another PWS just east of ISP, it did: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KNYHOLBR17/table/2022-01-5/2022-01-5/daily Windshift and rapid cooldown was probably not an ASOS error. So there's how far west the initial push of warm air got before backing off. We didn't get to freezing until after 8:30AM here. It was dicey on the steps in front of the house, although the road seemed fine. Up to 41 as of 12:40.
