This earlier start mean anything? Or just that it’ll end earlier? Curious if it has anything to do with the lead wave

It's not really a start...it's more frontrunning hitting really dry air.  I think you have to be pretty far west (beyond frederick and jefferson counties) to really get in the heavies before 10-11 tonight...Hope I'm wrong

Just packed the car - screw it - I don't care how dicey the drive is, we are heading out to Canaan. I am not missing this

As someone who used to live out there and goes several times a year… if you have four wheel drive and you’re experienced in driving in the snow you’ll be fine (the visibility will be zero without a doubt once you climb Mt. Storm and summit the Allegheny plateau). If not you will have serious issues because the snow will be very deep on corridor H.

we have 4 wheel drive and both from New England - we will take it slow.  we've been going out there for years so know what's ahead

The recent stuff you posted for DC proper on the mesos tells me this one won’t go well for us. That’s fine. Monday was sweet. I can live with a nice dusting that’s sweepable

All that aside I’m still rooting for us and anything less than 2” would be a disaster on the level as Boxing Day whiff was :clown:

Final forecast for the region. I may be low balling a bit across Central MD, but I have a feeling someone will get snubbed, but someone nearby could still be a winner. Lots of banding within the initial shield. Enjoy the snow y'all. I'll be living vicariously!! :sled:

Edit: I might be too high for areas like Loudoun/Fairfax county, but they still look good for 2-4" so it works in this case. Hopefully the slug from the SW really rolls through the region. That could come down hard and fast.
