I might have been confusing 1980 with 1983.  I don't think the Yorktown 24 hour period is midnight to midnight.  Maybe 8am to 8am?

Another grincher storm just in time for the holidays, unfortunate but at least there’s only maybe 3-4” of pack leftover from last week’s pair of events as compared to the 18” of pack from Christmas 2020’s grincher 

 

what I’d give to be in Buffalo or Watertown this weekend, though, another king-sized LES event for those areas

Southern Wantage NJ (8 s High Point NJ)  had a mix of freezing rain, sleet, wet snow 11A-1P with a slushy slippery film on most surfaces.  Newton NJ had icy spots in the County parking lot at 1PM tho the wet snow-rain mix had become all rain.

For what it's worth... Lords Valley in ne PA, Poconos had 3/4" of snow in Pike County PA near exit 34 on I84, before changing to sleet.

Yup agree, I see there’s a bunch of schools doing early dismissals tomorrow. Hopefully there’s no issues on the roads. The front will be in our area around noon when these schools are getting out.

The models have certainly sped up the front, tomorrow with be a nowcast for sure with the timing of the freezing temps and if there is any precipitation left right before/ as the freeze arrives.

Thanks Walt, I think the Poconos had  a max of about an inch and it was all rain by sunset.

Temps are slowly falling here even on Long Island.  Highest temp was 58 around 4 am when those big thunderstorms hit.

Please note CoCoRaHs snowfall map attached as well as NWS local snowfall reports and the CoCoRaHs 24 hour rainfall (not much LI, heavy rain focused Hud Valley). There was some marginal ice from Easton PA yesterday through nw NJ.  Salting was needed and it still was a little icy at 6PM in Wantage where frozen ground kept it slippery despite temps of 33F
