I ran some numbers, looking at actual rainfall IMBY for met summer up to now (Jun 1-Aug 12) and it confirms this is the driest summer to date here:

2005: 5.79

2006: 10.39

2007: 13.06

2008: 8.49

2009: 18.26

2010: 9.91

2011: 14.65

2012: 10.08

2013: 21.34

2014: 7.61

2015: 9.42

2016: 11.62

2017: 10.26

2018: 14.21

2019: 8.41

2020: 8.28

2021: 9.99

2022: 4.39

2022:  4.79 now.  If I get exactly an inch of rain tonight I'll tie my driest met summer...cue@BxEnginecomplaining that I couldn't find another hundredth at some point over the summer...

What's a good source for info on the W of The River fires?

There aren’t many good sources but look at the DEC on Twitter.  Also the Ulster County Fire page on Facebook, JC shared that the other day. The Times Herald Record ran a story today. It looks like that got good rains up there this evening.

Good evening BxE, Rob. As of 21:51, CPK .02, ref: NOAA/NWS. When I’m concerned about my mental health, I just re-read forky’s posts and feel a lot better. Stay well and dry, as always ….

I read on their Facebook page that even the Thruway Authority deployed one of their bulldozers to help build the fire line. I’m assuming that the rains last night were a huge help.

Yea looks like at least the western side got a legitimate soaking, but everyone got enough to at least calm the concerns for a few days.

Right you are, in recent times its more than 2017, 2012, 2011.  Look at some of those burn seasons the past...   https://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/42438.html

I like this map showing land burned in the spring 1903 ADK complex. It doesn't look very impressive until you focus on a familiar point of interest like Lake Placid, then the scope sinks in a little. Makes our current troubles seem like a walk in the park.

Good morning Rob. I’m hoping the postage stamp can match that sometime in October. Have a peaceful Labor Day weekend. As always  …

Good morning Rich, thank you and same to you. The second half of the weekend should be peaceful, the first half not so much. Finally returning to Mount Snow for a guys weekend at their Brewfest tomorrow, heading up in about hour. So the next 48-52 hours won’t peaceful necessarily but certainly enjoyable!
