IrishRob17
May 2022 be good to us all. Tomorrow looks like a cold day smoking cirrus but what’s next?
gravitylover
Welcome to Rob's better year thread Temp is down almost 10* already this morning with a very light N breeze. As the temp hit 45 the fog started to break, my guess is another degree or two and it will finally be gone. 1

CPcantmeasuresnow
I'm guessing a last minute jog 125 miles or so north is not in play?
Juliancolton
At least this system is escorting out the soupy air that's been in place for days on end. Might even see the sun tomorrow.
White Gorilla
Happy 2022 all. Let's see what our snow chances are this winter. A bit stinging to watch the fun to our south today. Friday may be interesting.

gravitylover
Damn winter cold and such... My truck blew a critical coolant hose and it's pretty much disabled until I can deal with it. Unfortunately if I take it to a shop it would cost a couple thousand dollars just in labor Can someone order me up a week or so of 60 degree temps so I can do it in the driveway? Man I need a garage...
Juliancolton
Despite staying dry today, the overcast streak continued. Tuesday was the last time my PWS recorded more than 100 w/m2 of solar irradiance.
CPcantmeasuresnow
Of course hoping for snow Thursday night but also hoping for a sub zero night or two next week. I haven’t recorded sub zero for the past two winters and that’s a first in my lifetime. Would like that streak to end.
hudsonvalley21
Overnight low of 13. Upton’s snow map as per the overnight.

Juliancolton
9F here with a persistent breeze overnight (something something real cold...) Nice to be watching a potential wintry event in the short-medium range. Not to insinuate anything about this threat in particular, but it's been quite a while since we've had a big storm during the month of January. 6.5" gets me my biggest January snowfall since 2011.

I managed one below zero low last season, -3 on 12/19/20. 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 were the only back to back winters here without any below zero lows
gravitylover
Hey guys be careful when you step out the door. I've been getting pretty heavy freezing rain and ice pellets for a while now and it's getting scary slick out there.
IrishRob17
Luckily in this case I’m too far NW for the precipitation this morning
BxEngine
Sweet spot in rockland/westchester/most of the bronx for precip and cold enough temps. Overpasses and elevated roads went to shit really quick. Shouldnt last long but that was no bueno.
gravitylover
Damn it's sketchy out there. The neighbor put the car in gear and moved an inch, next thing you know the car is sliding down the hill and across the street into the yard. It stopped before it hit anything but the old lady was crying.
Hitman
30f here and glazed. Roadways treacherous. My son tried to drive to work and made it a half mile before turning around.

Brasiluvsnow
Clarkstown is a shitshow, as they did not treat roads and did not delay school openings = accidents everywhere. The calls are now coming in that schools are delayed and closed after the kids have already left for or arrived at school,,,,,,geez this is a train wreck
gravitylover
Oof. Cars scattered, everything is going sideways and it's raining hard while it's still below freezing. This is going well
IrishRob17
Thankfully the roads I was on this morning were all well treated before the snow/sleet showers arrived about an hour ago.
Juliancolton
Not too much action up this way aside from some quick bursts of mixed precip in the last hour or so. Glad I don't have to travel south though.

Above a couple of inches won't likely happen Thursday night into Friday in our neck of the woods. Action is south and east again. Let's see mid month.
