tombo82685
Don't under estimate that cold air behind that system, it's going to want to push that bndry further south. Only thing preventing that front from not being hung up is an earlier phase. Def can see a more progressive outcome occurring

These mid winter scenarios often produce a better push from the arctic than earlier in-season. Not sure if it's related to wider snowpack coverage or not. As you stated though, also need the system's dynamics to cooperate.

Oo it will but shows you if it phases early it’s going west. If it’s late it’s progressive. It’s a tough setup

tombo82685
Ggem is more progressive. Doesn’t full on phase in southwest. Northern stream out runs it a bit setting up positive tilted trough.

vortmax
We've had 2 biggies here in my lifetime. 1991 and 2003. I was in Nashville for the 2003, but the 1991 one was intense. Killed like all of the white birch in the area - one of my favorite trees!
BuffaloWeather
I would lock that ice storm in so fast. Can you imagine. I'd probably get off of work paid for like 10 days with 1.5" of freezing rain. The city would shut down for weeks.
