lakeeffectkid383
After running around all morning came home to 1.7” new snow in the driveway since I left around 830 am. Band is strengthening and looks to be headed back south a bit right towards my place. Now over 90” on the year.
SouthBuffaloSteve
Rippin out there right now! Yes does look to be drifting a bit more south.
Thinksnow18
Still heavy snow in Williamsville and yes a definite shift to the south soon…but it might oscillate around a bit later today and tonight. Winds don’t veer until tomorrow so someone or several of us might be in for a surprise.

lakeeffectkid383
Probably worst whiteout of the year here. Snowing probably 2”+ an hour but winds are insane literally can’t see across the street.
BuffaloWeather
2.5" so far today and moderate snow. Looks like band is going to begin to move north again as winds are predominantly SW/WSW.

This will continue to keep the potential for accumulating lake snows east of Lake Ontario. Depth of synoptic moisture increases and improves the potential for accumulations which will last into Sunday, as the arctic boundary drops through. Several inches of snow is certainly possible especially on the Tug Hill. Conditions to look favorable for the development snow squalls on Sunday, especially during the afternoon as the arctic front presses through. A 45-50 knot low level jet will be passing overhead, bringing the potential for gusty winds. Any snow squalls will move southeast along and behind the front, with briefly intense snowfall rates around 1"/hr and gusts up to 45 mph. Any wet roadways will freeze quickly as temperatures plummet behind the boundary. Strong cold air advection continues behind a cold front Sunday night. Lake effect snow showers will develop south of the Lakes as flow veers from west-northwest to northwest. Conditions improve for lake effect snow south of Lake Ontario as 850mb temperatures fall to -18C and inversion heights become 5-6k feet. The RGEM suggests the Genesee Valley to the Finger Lakes as the most favorable spot for minor accumulations into Monday morning. Cold Sunday night with temperatures in the single digits across western NY to the minus single digits east of Lake Ontario. Notice no mention of Lake Erie??? All need a new profession.

I think the problem is the models have lake erie as frozen in their algorithm output. I looked at all the high res guidance and they all show literally nothing off Erie. It's a now cast event.
BuffaloWeather
If you loop this radar you can see the LES off Huron. The stronger sun this time of year is preventing a stronger band from forming and keeping it cellular. KBUF mentions this in their AFD. although a strengthening sun should help to make the activity more cellular and thus less impactful. https://weather.gc.ca/map_e.html?layers=radar&zoom=7¢er=43.43077718%2C-77.38116418

rochesterdave
The sun and compaction has just been murder on the snowpack today. I’ll lose half of what the prior 36 hours brought me. Sad. It’s not even March

TugHillMatt
Another NW flow "event" tomorrow? Vort and Blizz in Skan are having a good winter with all the NW flow. Geesh. I often get in on the edges of NW flow bands but the best snows are definitely over Cayuga, S. Onondaga, and Cortland counties. Anyways, getting a nice snow shower, I think off Lake Erie, for the past 10 minutes.

Should get even better organized as we lose the suns heating effects. Not sure it gets as strong as this mornings but we’ll see. I love when we get these events that no one forecasts and it’s just a complete guess to wether we see flurries or 3”/hr rates.
