Looks like -5/0 inland to 5 along the shore this a.m. Temps will warm slightly today, just like down your way. I remember you mentioned you work outside. Tough sledding. When I was younger, I worked outside jobs as well. This stuff is harsh. The wind is brutal.

Yep im a Geologist/Environmental Scientist for a large engineering and testing firm in the cities. Outside collecting and analyzing samples at job sites most days. I travel all over the state. I’m pleasantly surprised how well I’ve acclimated to negative temperatures. Still Brrrrr.

Clipper train here over the weekend. First two look like dust but the third might be more impactful.

Lows -teens near the lake to upper -20's inland. Pressure very high in the 30.50's. If winds were dead calm, temps would be much lower, but there is a little breeze out there this morning. With a series of clippers moving through the next few days, temps will be near normal.

You can tell this NWS forecaster has been in the Michigan area for a while.

On the other side of today`s forecast challenge, to the southeast of
Grand Haven and Big Rapids, we are going increasingly sunny through
the day. It can be an occupational hazard to go optimistic with sun
in January when we are socked in with clouds early in the morning,
but there are some reasonably large holes in the clouds opening up
on satellite, and some of the clouds are already thin enough to see
the moon through. Weak subsidence due to the high/ridging today
should continue to erode the cloud cover, while increasing south
winds will make an attempt to bring that drier and cloud-free air in
northern Indiana/Ohio our way.

-10 here as well.  coldest night of the season so far.   Looks like we have a good chance of passing that next Tuesday/Wednesday

Never fails. Again, every winter since I've been active on here it's barely snowed until the last 1/3 of January, yet we get an extended period of bleeding-knuckles temps. :axe:

A rare sunny day in these parts before a clipper brings 2-3" of snow overnight and in the morning.  Not a big fan of below zero cold (-13 this morning) and lack of significant storms, but this type of pattern will at least keep snow showers in the forecast with an inch or two falling everyday probably.

Yep not much difference between our areas.

I think everyone is ready for a pattern change :D

LONG TERM...(Tonight through Friday)
Issued at 401 PM EST FRI JAN 21 2022

The weather for the next 7 days will continue to alternate between
cold and not quite as cold but still pretty cold, with multiple
bouts of light snow and lake effect snow - just as it has for past
couple weeks.
