Rates really, really picking up now nicely over Hamblen county, probably .75''-1'' in/hr rn. About 1/4''-1/2'' on deck within minutes. Flake size has slightly decreased to penny size but intensity is considerable. Temp 33.4. From radar it appears the surface low is tilting even more negatively than expected, this suggests East TN will try to hang onto these bands for a bit as moisture is pumped north. Also the ULL feature near Chat could back build once it hits the mountains, and could create a wave, just a thought at this time though if low insists on getting out of here to the west fast.

Lying in bed listening to a torrential rain hit my metal roof and suddenly at about 3:48 a.m. it went quiet. I got up to check and it was about an 80/20 snow/rain mixture with huge flakes. Less than 5 minutes later it was basically all snow. I have never witnessed that before - it was almost instantaneous.

Looks like it’s winding down for me. I ended up with around 3.5in. A nice event for sure. During the height of the snow around 4:30-5:30 the road in front of my house did get covered but as rates tapered off, it melted pretty fast there. It’s pretty well preserved everywhere else though, and the trees are beautiful! It’s sure been a fun system to track!

I wound up with about 2 inches on the deck. Road was slushy and lightly covered earlier, but has mostly melted once it tapered off. Still enough to cause a tree to fall somewhere in the neighborhood and shook the house this morning.
