CheeselandSkies
Big patio umbrella at the other building in my complex that had been folded up for the winter became unfurled and came crashing down.
WeatherMonger
DVN and LSX keep letting the edge of their CWA's drop warnings in the middle as it moves into ILX CWA. Not sure what ILX will do with it. 70mph on DVN side and 60mph on LSX. Probably dry up before it gete here though.
janetjanet998
NWS Storm Prediction Center @NWSSPC Today (12/15) has set the record for the most number of hurricane force (75+ mph) thunderstorm wind gusts in a day (55, and counting) since 2004. The previous record was from August 10, 2020 with 53. 3
cyclone77
Wind with the line of rain showers that just came through was actually lighter than the 50-55mph southerlies before it lol. Kind of a letdown, but glad in a way. Already got enough sticks and branches to pick up tomorrow. Picked up 0.04" of rain.

Geoboy645
Wow did the wind just pick up in the last 15 minutes here. Can hear it outside and my dorm door is just going nuts from the pressure differences. What's left of the line is going to be in the next 5 minutes, so this should be fun. cyclone77
Wow, Redwood Falls MN reporting 78mph winds with heavy snow 1/4 mile vis. They were in the 50s a few hours ago. Marshalltown IA ASOS gusted to 81mph about an hour ago. This is the most impressive synoptic wind event I've ever seen in my years, for the midwest. I was thinking the Nov 98 event was tops, but this one definitely takes it.

wishforsnow
Wind has come up some mix precip. Suppose to get plain snow around noon. 1-2 inches today and a couple more. Lots of power outages Marquette county and east of Lake Linden/Dollar Bay. No outages so far here in Houghton-Hancock. Lights have blinked a few times but stayed on. Lost lots of snow here in Hancock. Half my yard is down to grass. Even the path I take the snowblower in the yard has melted off. So this is the second time of beating it down and it melted off. Hope third time is the charm and it will stay all winter.
purduewx80
Pretty interesting evolution locally last night. In the GeoColor CIRA image below, there is some wildfire smoke (and possibly dust) evident over the Great Lakes, which no doubt came from the Plains late yesterday. All the local obs dropped below 6SM in HZ as dry air surged in (subsidence? dry line?) behind the remnant showers. Note the pressure rises, drop in dews and slow temperature fall at ORD.

Powerball
I'd be surprised if there was another December on record with 2 back-to-back historic severe weather outbreaks.

Snow is currently spreading in from the west as the temp drops toward freezing. Lots of sticks and small branches all over the place may just have to wait until spring for cleanup. Solid snow cover still in place but it's pretty battered looking. Sleeping w/o a fan is the worst. 1
