That is an amazing fire hose that hits the Sierras starting Saturday night. It lasts for like 3 days too and these aren’t high snow levels.

Doesn’t look to be quite low enough to bury all of Reno save for a few inches but the foothills of the city as well as much of northern Nevada in general that are above 5000 to 5500 feet will see significant snow. Note that almost all of northern Nevada is above 5000 feet, with only a few select valleys being as low as 3300 to 4500 feet.

west slopes of Sierra above those elevations… you’d be in serious trouble if you got stranded out in that.

Different situation in B.C Washington and Oregon.

Currently no ski resorts are opened in Washington or Oregon.  At least non I am aware of.  Snow levels are way too high and it's too warm to make snow.

It just wants to snow today. Thought that band was dying out thats been hanging out over North Haven all day but looks like its reintensifying the last few frames.

Big flakes right now but its pretty light.

How ironic huh….the storm we couldn’t get to really come together for all of us, but albeit light…it wants to keep on snowing. This probably would have been a good one for us if it came together a lil earlier. Dam.

All models had snow expanding. How many deep are you? You can be honest. It's just light stiff. There is no inv trough there. All from some weak WAA and s/w moving through.

Yeah I don’t think that’s an inverted trough bringing us this stuff here. You can see on meso analysis some weak WAA aloft (especially at 700).
