Top snowfalls in Smithtown, NY since December 1995.  While technically, this weekend's was 6th on the list, I'd rank it a little lower, maybe top 10 or top 12.  Great storm, but I guess we're getting used to them.

Proves my point that 20+ should be considered HECS.  You've had 2 of them in that period, I've had 3 (I didn't have Feb 2013 in that list and you didn't have PD2 and Jan 2016, my number 1 storm, in your 20 inch list.)

Sometimes you say the dumbest shit. This is one of those times.

I agree with gravitylover RE: your often utterly ridiculous take on things.

Ice storms can be damaging anywhere, especially with aging infrastructure that definiately needs to be addressed.  But to suggest that it only affects "hicks and neandrathals" (your terms, not mine), is short sighted and asinine.  Take a look at weather history.  You will find many storms over the years have affected various parts of the world in destructive ways, including many communities of color who don't have the means to pick right back up and rebuild or move elsewhere after a natural disaster.

Hey I deal with my personal experiences not with alarmist takes, in my 40 plus years I've experienced numerous winter storms and ice storms in particular and lost power in NONE.  Some people have a hidden agenda to be alarmist well I will have NONE of that.

If you can't acknowledge that the governor of Texas has done an awful job at regulating their own grid, then you have your head buried in the sand.  It's not the fault of the communities obviously, it's the fault of the politicians who make decisions for them.  Like the aforementioned "governor" who has been called out numerous times.  Even now he's letting certain gas companies get away with opting out of the new winterization law.

on a side note, I finally got the multiquote thing working (yay) and multiquoting to a different thread is an extra plus!

The greatest thing to happen in Nyack in decades was building a new bridge so people can drive faster through Nyack.
