Burghblizz
Another nice band dropping in. In terms of fallen snow, I’m about 5” since Saturday. Nice payback for some of that cold rain.

Rd9108
Driving down 65 and it was like a white wall I ran into. Luckily it's March and it wasn't laying but it was coming down pretty hard.
TheClimateChanger
Nice squall moving through here now, coating all surfaces. Actually looks to be more intense to the southwest where there's some returns in excess of 40 dbz.

north pgh
One criticism of NWS Pittsburgh. They talk about the snow squall warning system but I have not seen any this winter when there should have been at times. Most of central Pa is under warnings currently by state college and have done it other times this winter. We have had several already with whiteout conditions and cars having to pull over until it passes. If near zero visibility and 40 mph winds even for 5 minutes doesn't warrant one then what does?

Rd9108
Jeff V must be in charge at the NWS now "Sir should we issue a snow squall warning for the area?" Jeff V- " What for some snow showers? Are you crazy?"
TheClimateChanger
Geez. The NWS in State College really loves their snow squall warnings. It's like the entire CWA at one point for just some scattered heavier cells.

I do recall a couple earlier in the winter along the I-80 corridor. NWS PBZ doesn't seem too keen on them - maybe because of the EAS activation? The ones I recall seeing them issue were near the interstate, so maybe they prefer to limit them to particularly dangerous interstate corridors? TimB
Looks like the high at PIT will be 27. Daily record, and last time that occurred this late or later in the season was 1923 and only the 4th time ever.

CoraopolisWx
35 year revenge storm. 4/4/87 was the first of many disappointments for a young lad. Went to bed that night with snow and a WSW, woke up to rain and a flood watch.

jwilson
This two-month winter definitely overperformed, maybe somewhat location dependent (as is every winter, really), but I didn't expect to even approach normal in this La Nina. Really, though, it was a half-and-half winter. December and February behaved as is tradition. Then March went nuts as it tends to do from time to time. I think there was actually more warm air being pulled in to the north. But yes, what could have been. Went to bed with 6” on the ground, and woke up to a slushy mess and a flood watch. But got a bunch more after we changed back, so overall I have a good memory of it.

north pgh
I believe they missed some potential snow squall warnings last week. Today no. I believe temps have to be below freezing which they are not today. I love spring snow showers. Nice cumulus cloud formation with sun and stormy looks.
