I'll take an inch or two just to hear people freak out on social media. Meanwhile a few years ago we had a trace of snow in May if I remember correctly

Yes, and one of those 1-2” events on April 21 last year.

Looks like 2.5” at PIT today (a daily record), 43” for the season and we are officially above normal for the season to date through 3/27. Also 16.2” of snow (snowiest since 1993) in a March that is currently running about a +4 temp departure. Who would have ever thought?

It has been an odd winter, by the numbers it looks good but lots of dead periods and near misses, crazy to think about.

Seems our record low max of 30 should be in play today, but who knows? A few peeks of sunshine and we overperform this time of year.

More importantly, if we don’t get to 32, there are only two times in the record book that we had back to back days this late or later in the season fail to even reach the freezing mark: March 30-31, 1964 and April 17-18, 1875.

For as bad as most of February was - cold but somehow mostly rainy - March has been awesome.

Not great if you want extended snow cover, but March never is. But gotta love having plenty of mild days to get outside, mixed with days with heavy snow.

If you accept the fact that it’s impossible to keep snow on the ground for more than a few days at a time in March, it’s easier to appreciate, especially when we got a period of extended snow cover this winter. I really think this winter checked all the boxes even with so many crappy periods. I won’t spend one minute thinking about what this winter could have been if December or February had been better or if we didn’t mix and dry slot in January.
