hey look, more clouds lol.  seriously, this pattern is reminiscent of that period in may a few years ago that was almost constant clouds/drizzle.  that was worse, but this is not ideal.  i think that a pattern change may even be needed for future snow prospects so we're not relying on this consistent flow of northern stream scraps.

What is the reason for all of this wind that is forecast?

i believe its due to the squeeze between the warm front that will give us our 60 degree temps today, and the cold front approaching later tonight. winds out of the west mostly, so its a big downslope event for places with higher elevations.

Its because we are the best for wind in winter.  The one weather phenomenon we CAN get around here regardless of NAO, PNA, MJO, Strat, Himalayan bird fart chaos theory.

Haha agreed. We do wind really well

This time of year, almost every warm day comes with strong SW winds which makes it impossible to eat outside (you'd lose your napkin in a split second, and your food would get too cold to eat in less than a minute if it didn't blow away itself). And it's pretty rare for a 100% clear day not to have an incessant, brutally cold NW wind which makes it really unpleasant to walk from the Greensboro Metro Station to Chik-Fil-A.

Wind is roaring up here on Parrs Ridge. I'd estimate gust to 40-45.

been getting some breezes/occasional decent gusts along gambrill/watershed for the last couple hours.  hard to complain about the temps here.

saw your post in banter...similar elevation gain here.  goes from ~400 where i'm at to ~1200+ in about 10 minutes.  the three saws trail is a good primer for how quick the elevation can change...uphill grinder and then a twisty downhill (or catovid for some rockier sections).

Weren’t we supposed to get down into the 30s this morning? Only 44F at my house. Freaking DCA is colder than that.

Mid-30s all around me.

It’s weird though - I see lots of 40s everywhere up in MD and PA, but 30s down  through Richmond and beyond.

Skies have been clear in VA allowing for radiational cooling while MD was under the clouds all night.
