87storms Posted December 1, 2021 Share Posted December 1, 2021 hey look, more clouds lol. seriously, this pattern is reminiscent of that period in may a few years ago that was almost constant clouds/drizzle. that was worse, but this is not ideal. i think that a pattern change may even be needed for future snow prospects so we're not relying on this consistent flow of northern stream scraps. We do wind really well This time of year, almost every warm day comes with strong SW winds which makes it impossible to eat outside (you'd lose your napkin in a split second, and your food would get too cold to eat in less than a minute if it didn't blow away itself). And it's pretty rare for a 100% clear day not to have an incessant, brutally cold NW wind which makes it really unpleasant to walk from the Greensboro Metro Station to Chik-Fil-A. I'd estimate gust to 40-45. been getting some breezes/occasional decent gusts along gambrill/watershed for the last couple hours. hard to complain about the temps here. saw your post in banter...similar elevation gain here. goes from ~400 where i'm at to ~1200+ in about 10 minutes. the three saws trail is a good primer for how quick the elevation can change...uphill grinder and then a twisty downhill (or catovid for some rockier sections). 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
