powderfreak
The rain totals have been solid. This thing is making some QPF... all the way back through SYR in upstate NY. I know most want wind but it's a solid synoptic moisture laden system, need some of these in the true cold season.

Other than decoding the METARs for the day you can go on Mesowest and they usually have the peak wind obs decoded. You have to scroll down to the 1553z ob to find it on the right side. https://mesowest.utah.edu/cgi-bin/droman/meso_base_dyn.cgi?stn=KHVN&time=GMT 1

I put mine out there every event and typically get lambasted and more often than not it’s not terribly far off. I have 50-55 mph gusts here with a possible upper 50’s and Dendy. Legro , and others refuse to issue a number . Runaway has under 40. I still don’t understand why my number is far off . Every piece of guidance shows it or higher. Elevated interior with screaming LLJ and CAA. I feel good about the call .

weatherwiz
These winds have me thinking... Next year when there is a derecho pegged to rip across Iowa I'm taking off from work, going out to Iowa and going into a field and going to build a giant stake and tie myself to it in the path of 100-mph winds.
Roger Smith
The low center will apparently pass between the Nantucket buoy and the island because at the buoy, winds are backing from north to northwest as it approaches. At the harbor, steady NNE. Would look for the low to be a few miles south of ACK by 04-05z. Winds will continue to increase until at least then. CoastalWx
It's possible the LLJ misses to the north of ACK. The area from about HYA N is a better area I think.
