Yup I said earlier after 12z it was easy to see where this was going. Everywhere BUT ohio will get a decent storm out of this.

For Columbus?....maybe if your idea of the game is getting the brunt of a storm, but for me, where we sit now IS what the game is all about. 48 hours out and riding the western edge of an incoming storm from the south with a positive nao heading neutral and no fresh arctic air mass pushing behind it during a la nina.... I'll take those odds. I think we at least get some accumulation, I'd be really surprised if Franklin county is relegated to smoking cirrus, but who knows, the game ain't over yet.

Yep, if the "game" was getting over a foot of snow, you should know better. We just don't get snow like that here more than once in a decade or two. The game is very much alive for 4-6" here for all the reasons you mentioned. I like where we sit at this juncture.

I hope you guys get your "March'08" except in Jan or Feb....fully aware that would require a low passing over Columbus and us having to take one for the team. (notice I said ONE, let's not get crazy)...I'm not that generous
Gino27
Only reassuring thing for Columbus area is that we only need about a 30 mile shift west to see some decent snow. That can happen all the way down to 24 hours before even starts.

Compared to 6z GFS, which I think is what 12z nam initialized on, has the first energy faster and stronger than what is actually occurring. Is this what allowed the 12z Nam to phase more? jbcmh81
12z GFS definitely seemed further west through 60, then further east by 72, mostly because it moves the coastal low pretty much east off the coast when it its VA rather than continuing north up the coast. Either way, the snow shield has inched west/north the last few runs.

Shield was definitely se of where it was at 0 and 6z. They've come back a bit west today, just used to being burnt here. Gets aggravating.
Gino27
Euro doing the same thing as GFS. ULL sightly east, but more phasing and more precip to the west. If we could get that ULL to come a bit west I think a lot of us are in business.
buckeye
I'd say overall very slight changes for better today. Biggest disappointment was the ggem which was a near miss east for central OH and a small jump east with all the 500mb features. Sunday morning the closed low will be over the southern states. Gonna be a nailbiter the next 2 days. Have to dust off all the mesos and issue a radar hallucinations watch...conditions will be favorable.
