JoMo
Models are still ugly though at least mid-Dec. My fav time of year for snow and cold and it's going to end up being unseasonably warm.

stormdragonwx
Yeah it says a lot when the Denver, CO area just set their all time latest snowfall record and longest no snow streak ever. (still ongoing as of this writing btw)
stormdragonwx
Welp while I'm still in the I'll believe it when I see it camp, both the GFS and Euro have been consistent on showing some kind of winter storm next weekend. Whats funny is its the Euro thats going crazy on the snow here.
JoMo
There's a long way from now until next weekend though and lots could go horribly wrong. With that being said, there is a chance. It won't stick around long as it's going to warm up after, but it would be nice seeing it falling before Christmas.
JoMo
Nothing really exciting as far as winter weather goes for the area. Pretty horrible pattern for winter weather through mid-month it looks like. After around the 21st or so. The Aleutian ridge looks to move into more of a favorable -EPO position. That should result in a greater chance of colder air oozing SE down the northern Plains. So, things might get more interesting near Christmas into early Jan. lookingnorth
Some places might be close to record highs tomorrow, for the second time this month.

Maybe a step in the right direction.
westhope84
Well, I guess I’m just going to have to get used to Christmas torches from now on.
stormdragonwx
Yeah the winter outlook is looking pretty bleak to close out 2021. Winter? What winter?

JoMo
Interesting changes on all the ensembles as we head towards the end of the month with more high latitude blocking showing up and a more favorable Pacific. Been a really boring December.

Been a really boring December. Hi jomo. That the key imo is the Pacific. If it dont cooperate, we stay warm. If it does, then all bets are off. I feel like the key is the Pacific and the ao. Imo of course

Wx 24/7
I don't like cold unless it is going to snow, so... it can go ahead and warm up for a bit.

JoMo
Santa delivered a pretty wild 00z GFS and even the 00z Canadian had some hope as well.

The Waterboy
18z GFS still looks good for the new year. Need a bit of a shift NW but plenty of time to worry about that later.
MUWX
Southwest Missouri would get screwed per the 18z GFS, probably means it’s locked in.
Wx 24/7
I am just thankful at this point that there is something to track. Looks like some snow and ice are finally going to fall somewhere fairly close. That's more than we have had thus far.
Wx 24/7
Looks like this weekend is shaping up to be a decent winter system from Central KS across the KC metro toward Kirksville and Hannibal, MO.
NWAflizzard
That is some cold air late in the 00z GFS run. Low single digits.
