kgottwald
You would think that with such an extended dry period we wouldn't have to worry about flooding, wouldn't you? Every single rain event in the past few years seems to produce flooding in some part of the DC area. Every single one!! The summerlike mid-60s dewpoints during the heaviest rain didn't help. We're also reaching the time of year where the plants, trees, grass, etc. are no longer drinking the rain water like they were during the summer. So it wouldn't take as much rain in a given amount of time to lead to flooding. I guess the lower sun angle leading to less evaporation also adds to this to an extent. Stormfly
1.58" event total. A bit heavy at times but a decent soaker for prep for this weekend's bonfires! Wind is fine, let's bring down more leaves, like to get leaf season wrapped up by the first week of November. We could use some wind, it's been far too calm too long.

I’m about 2 miles WSW of Oregon Ridge Park. Once the rain started, it poured here the entire time with a severe t-storm cell directly overhead for about 15-20 minutes. Buckets. The haptic rain sensor can have a slight overbias during prolonged heavy rain, and a slight underbias during prolonged drizzle or light rain.
