AirNelson39
Roads turned to instant slush the moment I hit the state trooper gas station at the bottom of 321. Getting worse by the mile!
wncsnow
Strangely enough, I have enough sleet for some white patches in the grass.
strongwxnc
Down to 36 here. It was 47 at 5 am. All water. BTW, total off 3.07" since 1/1. wow

Disc
Rather underwhelming here. Might have an inch on the ground. Rates haven't been all that good and took until almost 7am to go to all snow. Glad to see others to the south doing well though.
Tyler Penland
And just like that traffic is at a complete stand still on 321 before Blowing Rock We're supposed to be opening the outlet mall at 12. Hopefully they get the roads improved by then. No clue why they didn't just punt instead of opening for 6 hours. Buckethead
Amounts vary because of all the wind, but on average I found 11". There were a few spots that I'm gonna need the yardstick for. And it's still snowing. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
Tyler Penland
8" in 3.5 hours (7" in 2.5hrs) and tapering off. Storm for the record books IMBY rate-wise. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
WxKnurd
Congrats guys, y’all cashed in with that band. Hope y’all can reel in the possible late week storm. Maybe I can hitch a Miller A with me on my way back from Oklahoma in a week.

Local Yokel Wx
1.8" storm total. Not too shabby.
Buddy1987
Rather uneventful for my direct area as Disc alluded to. Last hour really saved us as it absolutely ripped ginormous dendrites. Got about 2” on the car. Roads/Driveway just wet.
AirNelson39
Seeing the progression of this storm as I went up 321 this morning was incredible. In 5 miles went from zero snow in the ground to 4-6”+ on the roads and white out conditions in Blowing Rock. Just shy of 3” of rain back in Granite Falls and bottomed out at 34.9 degrees at 9am. What a storm.

Hate I couldn’t join but I figured work wouldn’t like me getting stuck or wrecking the truck if the worst happened lol. I drove up that way yesterday evening but turned around at Hurricane Gap, tried to get an idea of how far the drive from the new place is. Next storm I plan on doing some driving around and hiking as long as I’m home. A good old fashioned NWF event would suit me just fine, especially to compare my new place to the old one for those events. Neighbor was telling me last year they had a 36 hr duration one that dropped 12+. I think I know which one he was talking about but I also don’t remember those totals unless you got up on the state line and above 4k’. Of course he’s also on the next mountaintop over up around 4100’ so maybe his place did break the foot mark.

Looks like I ended up around 4 to 5 inches. There has been a lot of drifting going on with this storm.

wncsnow
Went on a drive. Strange accumulations with this storm. Little Switzerland and Spruce Pine had an inch or 2 but South Toe area and Busick in Yancey had almost nothing. One area near Woodlawn had an inch and a few miles later had a dusting or nothing. Not exactly elevation dependant either.

Buckethead
I have had intermittent snow showers this afternoon. Its cold as crap though. Currently at 26 degrees. I had some clearing for a while earlier...thought the sun was coming out but nope. Another nwf shower moved in over the past 10 minutes. And yeah, it's seriously cold. 21° with wind gusts in the 20s.Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
WxKnurd
Looking at my weather station history the sun must have come out over my house after noon because the temp shot up from 26 to 34, back down to 30 now. Figure a snow shower moved in overhead. Thursday into Friday looks interesting, SW folks not up against the state line need that energy to dig a little bit more for more than dusting/inch.

The wind has not helped things at all and surprisingly very little snow has melted today even with the warm ground.
