I run a snowmaking business and its been an insane year for snowmaking hours here in the valley (Waynesville). We've had more snowmaking hours than Cat this season, in particular during December with so many inversions the last few weeks. Check out Latitude 90, they are likely to be the new norm for snowmaking at slopes like Cat; internal snowmaking, thrown out from the container. Setting all time records and like you said the inversions this season have been numerous. Hopefully this cold snap will help but it looks to warm right back up after that though. Yeah I like where I sit. We will see but at least we will get a cold snap around here.

Met1985
Yeah the 12z NAM wobbled to the other side this run. I Still think the models are having a hard time nailing this down. Seems like the more upgrades the more issues with the models.

About the worst I can remember. Seems medium range is better. About shameful, lol
Hvward
This is a situation where its all about the handling at 500mb. Every time the ULL cuts off over TN/GA WNC gets hammered. Thats because the system is able to rotate in some Gulf moisture. Ill be watching on the GFS to see if and when the 500 mb ULL cuts off.

BretWx
At this point, I'd be happy to just see snow falling after a 70 degree Christmas. GFS is a TEASE.
Met1985
After seeing the NAM and the GFS be pretty consistent I think we have a high likelihood that we see some sort of widespread snow even across the region. I do think the area for high snowfall say 4+ inches is pretty small but in saying that anything goes at this point.
Tyler Penland
Worth watching that Thursday night threat too. Temps look much better just need the moisture. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk

It's looking like wave after wave of cold air and embedded disturbances crossing our Region the next week or so. Haywood County sure is being hit on by the models the past 24 hours. I do wonder how much falls a sleet before transitioning to snow early Monday morning? I expect we'll see Winter Storm Watches hoisted this afternoon/evening for the Border Counties. The transition will be swift here in Haywood because of our elevation. I don't think we see any sleet at all.

Tyler Penland
Maybe worth noting (or not it is the HRRR), but the HRRR is a really good hit for much of the entire state. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
Buddy1987
I’m at that point guys where if we can squeeze 2-3” it’d be like a hefty winter storm warning type event. So much has changed with the pattern last couple years it’s incredible. Hell it doesn’t even need to be on the road LOL 1
