Models are honing in on the leeside downsloping and a leeside maximum, gonna be some big winners and losers and in close proximity.

It was 16 here this morning. 2nd coldest of the season

Probably one of those scenarios where you wouldn’t want to be in Morganton or Lenoir but you may be in business in say, Taylorsville, Hickory or Lincolnton.

Not good runs of the short range so far today even for mountains

I thought the NAM looked good. Even upped some totals a bit around Asheville.  Kind of more spread out with the accumulations.  The lee side of the mountains I think are going to be toast. This is normal for this type event. Anyone outside the flow snow areas who gets Anything should consider yourself lucky.

We had a very chilly start of the day here in Maggie, but not as cold as some folks at lower elevations. 22 here at the house and there is still snow around on our N facing location from 2 weeks ago!

I suspect we'll continue to see changes via the guidance right up til tomorrow afternoon for many. I am a bit intrigued to see if there's enough moisture pooling along the Arctic frontal boundary to give the Mountains a quick burst before the NWFS kicks in. Mighty cold air follows that Arctic front bringing lows in the single digits and wind chills below zero.

Winter is far from over and I strongly suspect we'll be tracking another storm this time next week!

Yeah I agree especially the trajectory of this flow may see yall do well there in Maggie.

Looks like a temporary break from the cold for a few days. But after that cutter it gets cold again.
I'm good with my driveway actually melting.

This may be the longest I've had widespread multiple inches of snow (now ice) on the ground. Going on 2 weeks and should eclipse that easily.

Ready as can be. First batch of ski guests arrived last night with another batch arriving today and our friends flying in land just before noon. We have a full house of out of town folks excited to see some snow. My expectations are rather low, but hopefully enough falls to cover the ground!

Our hope levels are the same. Cover the ground. Everything else is just gravy. I hope your friends have fun and see lots of snow!
