BooneWX
If this track shown on the short range models unfolds, have we seen anything like it?? I truly can’t recall anything remotely similar.

The warm nose is there but not egregiously in our area. I imagine it’d be snowing fatties and mixing with a bit of sleet.
wncsnow
I can't imagine the low going right over us...
wncsnow
Possibly thundersleet?
BooneWX
Yea I’m still not buying it but that’s more of a gut feeling than anything. I mean at Hr 32, it’s a 996 low in Banner Elk with zero signs of coastal transfer.
BretWx
I'm not buying CLT getting more snow than AVL. The Low track is on the table though... Will be fun to watch today.

Hvward
Living in that HRRR snow hole got me like . I should be able to give us a good read on how accurate those snow holes actually are.
Hvward
Lol at the short range models. Don't think I have ever seen a low take that track with such a strong high in place. This should correct.

Buddy1987
28 here in and around ROA area. Best part about anything in the end is we had some sort of antecedent conditions and it wasn’t 72 and sunny LOL
BooneWX
We didn’t discuss it much but the 06z GFS didn’t blink. It’s been telling the same story for 8+ runs now.

Hvward
Just now, BlueRidgeFolklore said: What do you think is causing the short range models to struggle with this? Honestly I think its the shear amount of energy flying around in the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong that low is going to try and drive into WNC, but the air up here is going to be colddd. I just think we have an anomaly on our hands here and the short range models are struggling to decide where that low redevelops off the coast.

Hvward
That Baroclinic leaf out in front looks stout, could see some flurries start flying here in the next couple of hours. Someone might get a decent snow shower even this afternoon.
Buddy1987
12K Nam at 15 may be a tad bit more flat. So far I like what I’m actually seeing but knowing the Nam that doesn’t mean anything little quicker with precip push as well

wncsnow
It's not a good run here. Snow is creeping more and more to the higher elevations.
