Raw, cold day today, 42 degrees as we pass 11am.  Leaves are still nice but slightly past peak. Lots of the smaller trees are bare now. Even though MRX is forecasting 33 here as of now for tonight, I suspect we will be close to the 29 that's being forecast just across the KY line in Whitley Co. A heavy frost/freeze will push a lot of leaves down.

Leaves are pretty prime here in Morgan County right now. Even still quite a bit of rusted green just on the verge of turning in Frozen Head State Park.

The big softwoods are still colorful here but losing leaves fast.  The 25 footers and down are mostly or fully bare. The hardwoods are pretty colorful but are always muted compared to the maples and such here.  They usually start to turn, a bug freeze hits and they brown fast.

True. I’d say tonight will hit my area pretty hard. Already in the low 40s here.

Come on down to Chattanooga. Always warmer here. Mountains surrounding the city are colorful up to 2,000 FT. By the weekend 2K+ will be past peak. Lower elevations look to tee up nicely again this year.

Have not been to the Plateau which is usually cooler than even Lookout Mountain. Going to guess Lower Plateau great color 1,000 to 1,500 FT and maybe through the weekend. If we can just get decent weekend weather.

Emory River at Oakdale yesterday evening:

Fine November evening. You could feel the air blowing into the canyon and hitting the cliffs that had been warmed by the sun all day. The temp of the water and on the water was in the 50s, but every once in a while you would get a breeze that had hit those warm cliffs and it felt spectacular. Even caught exactly one smallmouth, lol.

Just got back from Indianapolis, Indiana.  As we left this morning, and much to our surprise, it started to snow like crazy.  The band has been up there since Wednesday competing in Grand Nationals(National Championship).  It is like one giant playoff - prelims, then semifinals, then finals.  They start with roughly 100 bands and then get down to 12 finalists by Saturday night.  Divisional national champions are determined in semifinals.  They won the national title for the 3A division.  Then, they have finals where they take the top scorers (from all divisions) regardless of division, lump them into one competition, and then determine a Grand Nationals champion.  They finished 8th in the nation in finals.  It was a great experience for all involved.  The entire competition is done at Lucas Oil Stadium.  Lots of hard work paid off for those kiddos.  Marching competitions are awesome to watch.

I know we texted about this, but congrats.  Quite an experience for those kids and parents.  I had a high school friend also there sharing video of the snow falling. They were there for a soccer tournament.  She was quite happy when those in control cancelled the Sunday portion of the event.

Been windy and rainy today.  Much needed rain has fallen for most of the afternoon.  Leaves are finally off the trees for the most part.

Leaves have been gone here a couple of weeks but the rain was nice to get them good and soaked again. After being massively above normal through July, we finally had some BN rainfall months lately.

Nothing severe here but some of the loudest thunder in a while. Must have had a really close cloud to ground strike.
