Does anyone know where I can find the exact location of the equinox? The exact location where the sun crossed the equator today? Or will later on I mean.

Given the speed of earths rotation the exact spot will be so quick you might not get there in time

At zenith, or straight overhead. Runs north to south, happens at the same time for everyone worldwide. But obviously depending on timezones, the time at any location during it is different.

Yeah but the earth is “sideways” to the sun on this day. At some point today the suns direct rays will move from the northern hemisphere into the Southern Hemisphere. I think I read that it occurs at 3:20. So I’m wondering where on the equator the sun will be at 90° at 3:20. They can give the exact path of a solar eclipse so I’m sure this info is out there somewhere. I just can’t find it lol.

It will be along the equator in the eastern Pacific because at 3:21pm edt/ 12:21pm pdt the sun will be west of South America and southeast of Hawaii.

3:21pm is when it officially happens for us. So, if I understand how equinox works correctly, that is when the suns rays are exactly perpendicular to the equator, where it is 12hrs day 12hrs night split evenly on the earth. Then the shift slowly happens between now and the winter solstice to be in the southern hemisphere.

Yes. Thanks. I know they know the exact spot because I’ve heard them say it on the weather channel before. I just can’t find it. Your explanation is solid.
