Yep.

...MAJOR HURRICANE IDA CONTINUES TO STRENGTHEN...
...NOW A DANGEROUS CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE...

Data from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft and NOAA
Doppler weather radars indicate that Hurricane Ida has continued to
rapidly intensify this Sunday morning. Maximum sustained winds are
now estimated to be 130 mph (215 km/h). This makes Ida a category 4
hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.

Ida's central pressure has fallen 6 millibars during the past hour.

BULLETIN
Hurricane Ida Intermediate Advisory Number 11A
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL       AL092021
100 AM CDT Sun Aug 29 2021

"Ida is now a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson
Hurricane Wind Scale. Rapid strengthening is forecast to continue
during the next 12 hours or so, and Ida is expected to be an
extremely dangerous major hurricane when it makes landfall along the
Louisiana coast this afternoon."

NHC is strongly hinting at a high Cat 4 or even a Cat 5 here. At 0100h cdt report they stated 115mph sustained wind for Ida. 15 more for a 4, 157 is +42, doable in 12h?

Thats the old one, new one is posted already on this page.

This plane has turned around and headed back to dry land

Could you clarify that? AF303 is progressing back to KSKF. But AF302 was outbound and getting close to Ida, but the data stopped about 25 minutes ago, 0655utc [on Levi's feed]. So has AF302 been aborted?

Looking at AF 302 and 303's last reported positions I guess that I'll go outside in about 30 minutes and look for them overhead on approach to Kelly. And listen too, maybe 302 lost an engine...

Chatter on Twitter is that NOAA P3 Orion will take off from FL shortly to intercept

Well, losing a engine would certainly be a good reason to not fly into a Cat 4 'cane. But what are we doing? Flying WW2 planes into hurricanes? It's 2021 for crying out loud. This program needs more funding.
