beavis1729
Yeah…86/79/100 here. So oppressive. I don’t know how people in south FL handle this 6 months out of the year. A few days is bad enough.
Hoosier
Flirting with the rare 80 dew at ORD. Been hanging at 79...

hawkeye_wx
This weekend into next week some tropical action is expected to curve from Florida up through the eastern US. As usual, that means a long stretch of dry weather around here.

hawkeye_wx
Totally screwed again here. All the heavy storms north of me held together and dumped widespread 1-3". The strong cell west of Cedar Rapids vanished. A brief downpour dropped 0.15" in my gauge, once again only enough to wet the surface.
Greenwald
88/79/103 here in Fort Wayne right now. I guess a big storm went through Bridgman MI last night and flooded / destroyed a substation close to the lake. 14.5K out of electricity I feel bad for them as hot as it is. 7.44 inches in 144 minutes.
cyclone77
MLI had 95/81/117 earlier. Heat index peaked at 116 here with a peak dew of a sweltering 82.
bowtie`
Only 92/75 at KIND. That is warm enough for me. Needed to use the umbrella as a personal shade device for my walk to the Post Office this afternoon.
cyclone77
Picked up 0.02" from decaying anvil shower earlier. Today another letdown, let's try again tomorrow lol.
hawkeye_wx
2-3" of rain fell just north of Cedar Rapids this afternoon. I've received 0.98" over the last six weeks.
Brian D
A whole tenth of an inch of rain really early this morning. Nice today with west winds and 80. Low dews and smoke free skies. No rain in the forecast for a few days. Just really pleasant weather. Need much rain tho.
cyclone77
Must have had a pretty bad storm here this morning. Lots of sticks and branches down, with some tree damage around town as well. A large cottonwood splintered near the railroad tracks just west of town. Guessing we had 60mph winds here for a time. Picked up 0.33" of rain. EDIT: Thanks @Chicago Storm for the radar pic in other thread. Definitely explains things lol.

cyclone77
The past two evenings have ended up considerably more quiet than what models/SPC had advertised. Luckily we got in on that action this morning or this would have been a pretty bad back to back bust for this area. Dews have ascended into the upper 70s again. Even a few 80 degree dews in the area as well (Clinton and Sterling).
cyclone77
MLI with a heat index of 98 at 11pm (86/78). Very impressive. EDIT: And now a 97 degree heat index at midnight.
fluoronium
I'm still feeling the afterglow from my August 9th chase. All time best chase for me! So many tornadoes with beautiful, textbook structure!! It's been a brutal couple of years for storm chasing locally so it is so nice to have a day perform like that.
cyclone77
Wow, 3rd afternoon/evening in a row that failed to produce anything. Definitely a huge fail to be sure. Luckily we got that 0.33" yesterday morning with that severe storm.

sojitodd
Finally some nice long soaking Thunderstorms. Currently under a flood advisory. Now I can stop watering so much. I hope the wonderful sunny/80 forecast for the weekend holds up. The humidity yesterday and today was disgusting. Everything around here has stayed nice and green and this will keep it that way. Crops look great around here-hope they don't get flooded out too much.
bowtie`
The line formed just south of I-70. Best rain was south of Indianapolis with the storms. Only 0.05" in my tippy bucket of just stratiform rain. Still parched here. Maybe tomorrow?
