Thing is massive on radar. I’d be legit concerned in those areas. Who knows if it will hold together by landfall though.

This looks like a disaster in the making for someone in the New York to Long Island. I’m in the hamptons right now and the wind and rain is ridiculous. Sounds scary to be honest! And we’re not even in the middle of it yet!

Very heavy downpour here in SW Suffolk with flash flooding developing. Due to the tropical nature of the rainfall, the radar is underestimating the rate of rainfall here. The echoes in orange are more like a red summer thunderstorm.

OKX should put radar to VCP 121 but they haven’t.

I have flash flooding here in SW Suffolk with a small lake around my place in the grass. While the Wantagh mesonet may not be under the heaviest band, they picked up 1.00 in just 30 min and are at 2.50 so far.These are some of my heaviest rates of the last few years.

No time for reports/today. Noting SPC marginal risk today in the subforum. My guess, based on modeling, outside of ELSA TOR's early today, is for a possible spotty SVR event 5P-9P in the interior when time to recover from morning cloud. Have a day!

Ended up going a tad further east. Less than a half inch near Somerset. 

NYC east will do very well here.

Picked up .70 inch of rain in 20 minutes, still heavy. Winds gusty but not real strong, gusting to 26mph.

My wind is shifting from east to NNE , so I would say the storm has been SSW of me and is now more south .

Decent band of rain now, but limited potential compared to points East. Radar estimates show a lot of precip in Madison/Chatham into Montclair; anyone confirm? I would think the Passaic will come up a bit with this.

Stayed at my dads in south wantagh last night “just in case”, just woke up to basement flooding and a couple large branches down in the backyard. The basement flooding makes sense. What doesn’t are the branches, winds are currently light

I’m in Long Beach for the same reason. So far moderate to heavy rain here but not much wind.

Looks like the Nassau/Suffolk border getting crushed just like yesterday evening. Radar estimates there well over 3” to 4” between both days.

Looks like a deformation band is just setup over E Nassau/W Suffolk as Elsa starts to move away from us. Too bad this isn’t a winter storm, haha. 2.97” in Muttontown & 2.49” in Syosset so far from t-storms and Elsa.
