Take away from this is that unless you're talking about Irene-type flooding, rain storms are utterly forgettable. Oh yeah. That’s true. weatherwiz
Gotta say...this was pretty damn well forecast. Obviously the exact details had to be ironed out as we got closer but I remember last Friday the look on the models gave pretty good confidence we were going to be impacted.

Whineminster
Weak. One good downpour this AM for 3 minutes, other than that no different than any other synoptic event.
dendrite
Getting bright on the horizon. 1.81 including yesterday. Maybe a couple more hundredths before it’s done. Will check the Stratus in a bit. Nothing epic up here and far from a jack, but another good drink regardless.

Chrisrotary12
Guidance continuously reloading a Great Lakes trough through the end of the month. If that feature sticks through August & September, we'll get a real tropical system up here.
CoastalWx
Looks like most of the area is between 7-9" MTD. Crazy. About 8.5 here.

I've been thinking about that quite a bit...especially considering how strong the Bermuda high has been off the coast and also its proximity to the U.S. Given here there is really no signs of the strong ridging in the West breaking these reloading troughs in the Great Lakes will continue

Started talking about potential in my group chat on June 22. Obviously there’s a ton that happens between speculation and game time but sometimes these signals are as solid as it gets. Makes it all the more frustrating that the Euro ensembles are really struggling with TC genesis signals even at very short range. Makes blending much more difficult IMO. Typhoon Tip
Yeah again .. this weird, fast end was on the wall when the lashing was giddy with posts in here 2 hours ago. The thing decoupled from the tropical air mass it was toting up the EC with around that time, and almost immediately, ground truth was lighter than Nexrad. Plus, subtly less on sat... while holes opened up in the rain. Basically, we sort of had the last 2 of this low-ball
Typhoon Tip
This doesn't mean anything later on - sorry. "got feelin' this winter gon' be a hum-dinger cuz that summer was .." this and that - means nothing.
WxWatcher007
Yup. Wake me up on August 20 and show me the ensemble guidance. You won’t predict the predominant steering pattern in September this early.

You look at SST's off the coast (and correlate that to SSTA's) and things are beginning to cook.
Typhoon Tip
I like this sort of transition just the same. It's neat I mean, 5 pm will be an entirely different universe compared to what it was down my street at noon.
weatherwiz
crazy how quickly things dry too...a hour or two after it stopped raining...roads and parking lots dry. You could look outside now and wouldn't even know it rained.
