July 2009 was an absolute heat-less dream but I don't recall it being too gray. One of the June's a few years back (2017?) was the cloudiest on record.

Summer 2010 was pretty cloudy. It seemed like everyday or every other day had grungy skycover from convective debris. I'm not sure how it would compare to what you're describing this year though. Spartman
Set a daily rainfall record yesterday: With only halfway through the month, rainfall is already above normal for this month with a current total of 4.12" as of this morning. Let's hope the 2nd half doesn't have any more rain that would end up being enough to make this month one of the top 10 wettest Julys on record. cyclone77
Ahh, can't believe it's already been a year since I mentioned this memory, gotta do it every year lol. This is part of the epic afd DVN constructed on the afternoon 10 years ago today. Ahh the memories. SHORT WAVE COMBINED WITH FRONTAL BOUNDARY AND HIGH CAPES SUGGEST POTENTIAL FOR EXPLOSIVE DEVELOPMENT OF THUNDERSTORMS IF CAP BREAKS. IF THIS SCENARIO PANS OUT THEN A DESTRUCTIVE DERECHO WITH WINDS OVER 100 MPH IS CERTAINLY POSSIBLE. CORFIDI VECTORS WOULD TAKE THE THUNDERSTORMS SOUTHEAST ACROSS MUCH OF THE DVN CWA.

cyclone77
Smoky skies today. Sure been a lot of smoke the past several years. Maybe that's why our Decembers have been sucking. JK

JK absurd amount of smoke. when visiting Boise last week there was a haze in the sky the entire time we were there. Had to drive to the mountains to actually see them. Really hope one of these summers can have a pattern change for the west. Not holding my breath though.
WaryWarren
We need to build The Wall to keep out all the climate refugees from Colorado, Montana, Oregon, Washington, California and Arizona that left the "awful Midwest" so smugly. You don't get our water either.

*IndyMeso*
Yesterday I noted several commercial airlines flowing relatively "low" past my house before heading west. It actually shocked me as they never come this far north to start their flight after taking off IND. I suspect they had to travel a significant distance to get out of the smoke. Crazy to think about really.
